Exclamation Load Data

I think it would be really cool if you could load old data on Kotor 3 from Kotor 1 or 2. That way if you were really evil you would still be and vice versa. This woudl be really cool with Kotor 1 because you could either destroy the rest of the republic or destroy the left over sith.

It is a pretty cool idea, but what about those of us console gamers, we couldnt load our game data from the original xbox to the 360, i dont even think there were any games that loaded data from one xbox game to another for the sake of continuity. Its a great idea but it would leave a large fan base stranded, or they would come up with an alternative option to choose, which wouldnt make sense to make two different things for the same game on different platforms.

As much as i'd lik to load data and supported the idea in previous threads it cant happen because it's a major problem for console players. And in order for the story to work the player has to start off on LS.

But they could make an alignment choice at the start of the game to determine all the details from previous games. For example At the main menu when the start new game is selected the player can be given a LS/DS choice to determine all the events from the previous games.

Personally i think they should finish off the story in KOTOR 3 in "known space" and in KOTOR 4 Start a whole new story in the outer rim.

NCAA Football lets you save those players who declare themselves eligible for the NFL Draft and then load them up on Madden Football (has to be games from the same year, of course, NCAA 06 to Madden 06). It might not be quite the same thing as getting info from past Kotors, but when you consider you're dealing with stats for about over 200 players, I can't imagine that Kotor is loading all that much more info (probably a lot less, actually).

The only real problem might stem from the fact that console gamers would have their Kotor I and II games on the XBox, but Kotor III will probably be a 360 game. I guess that means they'd have to play through the games on the new system if they wanted the option of using their old info. Of course, the game could just ask, "Would you like to load saved data from previous games?" and if you say 'no' it could either ask you to give it the needed info or let it select random feats, powers, etc. (maybe still having you put in gender, class, and even head type). It would be clunky, but not too bad.

I doubt they'll have that feature, since there are some obvious problems with it, but it would be doable.

Well they could continue the story without having appearances from old characters i mean thats how this whole load data thing started right. Without the old characters appearing in the next ones there is no conflict.

It wouldn't be as if it would be an easy thing to do. The mass amounts of coding required itself to alter KotOR II would take a great deal of time, so that they could map out choices, etc, that you made. Not only that, but some players of KotOR II, such as walterd140, have had characters up to level 48. Others, like myself, stopped around 30, if I remember correctly.

What about plot? How would they fit it all together to work properly? What type of game are they going to make, and would it be enjoyable with the same character? Would the two above points work together correctly?

Then, what about those who just got KotOR III as the first game? They would have no where to begin from. All the old portraits could show up with a bunch of new ones in the character creation menu.

It was just a shot in the dark.

How i really feel is i'd like to have old characters back in the next game. No matter how they fit them in. Personally i wouldn't like to have them on my crew but in the game.

The farthest I would go myself is letting a portrait from the last game be chosen to represent the Exile myself.

No super jedi

somebody didnt want a third "super jedi" , so how about this. Player IS NOT the most strongest character but helps Revan or Exile to find some sith lord.He\She would maybe know something about that bad guys past or something like that.

Had to agree with Hill-Shatar that loading the previous saves from KOTOR 1 & 2 into KOTOR 3 would be very troublesome. Too many complications to deal with.

Shouldn't that go into either the KOTOR III Storyline or Remarks thread or the sequel vs. prequel thread?

As a rule, "bumping" old threads is not allowed. Seeing as how there are a number of active threads covering things from ideas for the game (integrating old characters would be part of that), to storyline remarks, etc., I'm closing this one. It's outlived usefulness.
