i agree with you totally on that. there are certain games i play on my ps2 that i could not imagine playing on a pc as i am used to the ps2 controls. i just think that making a kotor game that is purely for a console, or purely for pc, or purely for online would be a huge mistake as it would mean that a huge chunk of the market would miss out on the game. thats why i think they should keep it so it works on pc and x-box and possibly have an online feature for those that want it, but definately not have it online only.

What is the deal with everyone wanting to play games online. It was fun at first with games like Counter Strike but, online rpgs??!!
First of all people like me who can't get broadband access are mostly left out in the cold when it comes to online playing. (Yes I live that far out in the middle of nowhere.) Sure 56k can be used on most online games, but you lag so far behind everyone else its more of an exercise in frustration than a game.
Secondly rpgs are great because of their story. It's like an interactive movie. Online game stories are patchy at best. It ruins the whole experience.
And I won't even start on having to pay a monthly subscription just to play a game you already spent fifty bucks on.

Goddamnit since when evryone argues about pc's and consoles in a thread concerning making KotOR online?? Phew....let's concentrate on the right topic. KotOR purpose is clear - let people live through what force wielder's of that time had to go through, with some cinematic fight's and a deep story. Online games are soulless. Story there is only a cover for gaining up xp. But on the other hand, SW:Galaxies sucks I downloaded a free 2 weeks trial from fileplanet.com and I know it is not worth a damn. So, it is a little dissapointing that there is no online star wars game worth of attention.

The comic and the game are two different stories altogether and really they arn't in the same time period i know i just finished reading them.

Like i said the comic they are gonna make about it and TV series is gonna kill the games.

Now back to the topic what i meant was i'd like to see a SW online game not based in the movies time period.

Who says they aren't going to do just that?

But I like the other part of it, but its almost exactly the concept of SW:Galaxies.
I mean, you pretty much start with nothing and work your way up

but I would like to see a game that deals with a single player campaign
as well as the feature of online play with other ppl. That truly would be a great game.

I think it would be a great idea to have an online kotor that shows the different wars that were talked about in KOTOR and KOTOR II,
for instance have a game that talks about and shows what happend during the jedi civil war, mandalorian wars, and any others that aren't mentioned here.

I'm seeing it as being like Guild Wars, how you can choose your creature, and its clothes and weapons, and play. You could get credits and the, depending on your character, buy new weapons and clothes, and like an Academy or Monastery or a Fort etc.

ok. so basically , assuming its done correctly and Drew Karpyshyn has a hand in it, KOTOR as an online game could prove very playable. i know we have an sw mmorpg already. but anyone who played that game pre CU would agree that it was similar to kotor in combat styles. it used a combat queue. the combat style swg has now is similar to other mmo's. and thus not many ppl play it. i think they are down to 20,000 active players. KOTOR as an mmo would be great. and you wouldnt necisarilly need to play WITH others to enjoy it. there are ppl who solo mmo's to a certain extent. but basically a KOTOR mmo with help from drew karpyshyn in my opinion would be extremely well written and could really break ground in what we think of as standard "quest to quest" leveling. if you dont know who drew karpyshyn is then go to hell. lol

So you mean we would not have a single player game, have an MMO instead, so that we can play it as a single player game?
