Your opinion on cheats

Due to my recent problems with cheats (using kse) I've decided to see what other peoples opinions on cheats are, could even be a bit of debating .
I know that some people approve and disapprove when it comes to this topic.
Some people say that cheating is okay because it makes the game more fun and can help you if you ever get stuck with a peticular bit of the game. Some people say it takes all the fun out of playing the game because it is no longer a challenge.
My opinion is that using cheats is fine, once I've completed a game (or maybe if im stuck or bored) I see if there are any cheats. Though they can sometimes cause problems, at the minute because ive been changing my influence everytime I look away Bao-durs got his black face paint on again and Atton looks like a corpse thats been sitting in the sun for a week, And im almost fully good now. Anyway my summary of cheats:
Cheats = fun and good, yet they can have some negative effects.

Ps: I tried to add a poll, yet I've never added one before so if it goes wrong, ignore it.

I only use cheats if I feel I have no choice as I really can't do something or if there is a bug I need to get around. Generally I don't touch cheats or walkthroughs until I've completed a game at least once

I don't use cheats; it stops the game from being a challenge. I have once or twice used exploits, mostly to 'see what would happen' if I was level 40odd, but having tried them out I don't use them any more.

I would consider using cheats to get round a bug if I couldn't do it any other way, but so far I've never been permanently caughtout by a bug, as I'm diligent about saving...

I think cheats are pretty lame. Usually the game is made such that the play is balanced out fairly well, so cheats aren't necessary. KOTOR I & II i don't think require cheats...given how easily you can smote just about anyone or thing that comes your way.

Having said that, do you consider using a walkthru to solve a puzzle cheating? (I do this!)

As a general rule I only use cheats on games I can't beat any other way, or on games that suck but I want to see the ending.
I sometimes use them to see alternate endings without replaying the whole game.
I like cheats because they can save you time, but sometimes they can ruin a gaming experience.
I also have to confess that I greatly enjoy using God mode style cheats to exterminate all my enemies with extreme prejudice using the weakest weapon I have.

Interesting point. I believe that first time round I did it all without looking at a walkthrough, although I don't think I worked out every optional puzzle correctly, and I never did figure out the code to get the lift working on Peragus (indeed, I've never found out how you're supposed to realise that the numbers should be put in backwards...or why they are backwards when you get them from one of the logs in the dormitories...

After the first time I just looked for the answers in a walkthrough. Anyway, the question is now moot, as I've long since memorised the answers to all the puzzles

You have to listen and watch the holo of Coorta and the HK droid says something n he mentions he put it in backwards to stop Coorta using you to get the Bounty on Jedi. You then get an option if u intelligence if high to put in code backwards

Ah, thank you. Although I usually read Coorta's log, I've never picked up on that. How careless of me.

I play as long as I can before consulting a walkthrough. But I don't consider them cheating. Cheating to me is enabling cheat codes that change certian aspects of the game to put it out of balance.Usually heavily in favor of the PC. I don't judge it though. Games are for fun, so whatever anyone does is fine so long as they are happy. IMO
