I have no problem with mindless killing in games in general, but in order to get the most out of this game, you're sort of forced to choose one or the other, light side or dark side. I just think it would be nice for both sides to be equally well thought out and interesting. It makes more sense for characters to be "tempted" by the dark side if it involved more than just flipping out and slaughtering people for little (or no) reason.

I agree. For someone who don't really like playing dark side, I also wish that both light and dark side are more fleshed out. The latter should be fleshed out more as the dark side path in both KOTORs does seem like the developers didn't really put a lot of focus it. It's not tacked on, in my opinion, but it just feels a bit unpolished at times.

But don't forget what we can do to our companions.
For example HanHarr, when ı played dark side ı destroyed his beliefs and wookie honor.
Or Atton, he construed his experince with the female jedi wrongly because of my lies...
Kotor 2 is the second game that ı felt charisma and inteligence are as important stats as strength.(It's an important thing if you playing DS)That's why ı like Kotor 2 than first Kotor.

But, still my choice is LS

Good points, although I think that's more of a credit to the influence system than the overall dark side storyline, which is strengthened by the influence system, though still not as strong as the dark side story in the first game.

Not as strong as the first game?
The(so called)dark side story is nothing but "You almost conquered the republic and you have a mask and dark cloak(ı remember this costumes from somewhere but...)!No matter you can't remember who you were. Kill'em all!"Then Revan suddenly forgets his jedi traning becomes "evil".Even Anakin's fall(eps III ) was better...

There is no dark side story in the first game, just a mask and typical power hungry, dreadful sith and a chance to do some evil deeds that we watched in new episodes.Kotor 2's dark side story isn't enough(yes ı may agree that) but first kotor's too...I believe the reason is the both game's original stories(that have a place in Eu)are based on LS...

Srry still ı lose myself if someone talks unwell about Kotor 2 and there is no connection between the topic and what ı'm saying .

Don't get me wrong, I like KOTOR 2. And I like the first one. But in terms of having a complete, cohesive story (whether or not you think the story is good is a different issue) for both light side and dark side options the original KOTOR has an advantage over the second. I'm not trying to tear down KOTOR 2 by any means; you can critique something and still like it.

And the first one did have a dark side story, one that made sense in terms of character development.

Lol, now this thread is completely off topic, so I'll just say that I like the light story better.

"dark side is stronger"

their powers are aggressive but I have to disagree. it depends on your playing style. last time through i played a LS Consular-Weaponmaster. At a certain point after casting master valor and battle meditation, DS jedi were going down left and right with my flurries. i didn't even use the force stun unless there were more than 3 of them.

also, i agree that playing DS was more rewarding in KotOR2, that's because of Kreia imo. however, i prefer the first because the twist was better and it was less buggy. also, kotor2 had a rushed feel to it (which it in fact was) because after extensive dialogue with your party members up to a certain point and all the influence opportunities, it just stops around halfway through the game. kotor2 was good, but it should have been great. obsidian just didn't have enough time.

"Funner" isn't a word.......

I enjoyed playing darkside quite a bit more than I did lightside, because to me, it reflects what most people would do with that kind of power; they would abuse it for their own personal gain and by so doing, harm those around them. In my eyes, the dark side is symbolic of human nature: following impulses and satisfying desires, whereas the lightside could be summed up as the super-ego, as Freud might say, where one does only what one thinks it right or just.

The darkside represents what it means to be human, whereas the lightside would remove itself from any trace of humanity (love, friendship, emotion, passion, anger, fear, any and all of which define the human being). It is difficult to call oneself human after cutting oneself off from everything that defines humanity, but then again, denying their humanity seems to be what being a Jedi is all about. Mouse from The Matrix said it the best "To deny our own impulses, is to deny the very thing that makes us human"

Dark side is better for those, who want to use all the offensive powers like death field and lightning, force points required to cast them are reduced significantly, and with high wisdom you will become a force casting machine and such skills displayed in the heat of battle can really make you feel like you are the king of the hill. So if I have to choose, then it would be the dark side, no use to mediate between opposites.

But if you want some more protection, then you can choose the light side, both side have some benefit connected with choosing them.

well first off i wanna say im new the to this forum but not to KOTOR. ive played both the first and second ones each a few times thru.

i prefer the dark side because in real life im rather nice and polite (most the time ) and in the game its nice to be rude to all those who piss me off or to those interfering with me getting my way!!!

first few games in both games were as DS guardians and i wanted a change so my last game i went with LS consular. the light side just wasnt as much fun becuase of the whole being nice thing just isnt my style in video games. now i will agree tho that the story and dialogue choices for DS are a bit corny and undeveloped and seem very childish in the way as in, "I'm gonna beat u up" kinda style. we all know that truely evil minds of the sith and such are more intelligent soundin than what we experience in KOTOR and not so much mindless slaughtering.

but anyways, i believe it makes no diff in what side u are in difficulty of play bein that if ur a consular u will be a god no matter what your alignment. i was a LS consular and by the middle of the game i was dominating the battles just by using dark side powers the entire time. only light side powers i use are heal and speed, others to me just seem useless when u can just destroy em rather quickly using DS powers.

kinda long answer i guess but my first post and wanted it to be somewhat thorough, all in all i enjoy being evil much more than a nice guy.

I prefer being neutral, neither light nor dark fits my play style (or philosophy for that matter) so I naturally end up grey for most of the game unless I actively try being one side or the other.

Well...i'm new to this forum as well...but i prefer the light side, gotta like buffing and healing up your group, but i also used the dark side powers frequently (Force Storm, Death Field and Kill) but the way i made my character, regardless of the adjustment due to being a full light sider, i had unlimited force points...they regenerated faster than i could use them...

I usually always play light side first, and then after I finish the game as light sided as I can possibly be, I turn around and kill everyone I possibly can!
