Tatooine Crash - cant enter

Im having problems entering some of the areas on Tatooine. I have already found the starmap there, but need to return to the hut and give him his annoying cargo with the prisoner, but the game crashes to the main menu, with mouse locked whenever I enter the swoop office.

Has this happened to anyone else and is there a solution? Maybe some files got corrupted that can be replaced from the original CDs?

I have patched to the latest version but no change.

(and as always the game crashes every half an hour or so, but whatever)

Regarding your problem... I'm not sure how much help I could be but the game sometimes crashed that way for me on Tatooine and Manaan after I had found all five Star Maps. (not to mention the usual "restart every 20 minutes and face corrupted saves...") I'm sorry, but I don't know of any other solution other than solving that quest before finding the last Star Map. Perhaps just load back to the last save before finding it... even though it might be a drag, depending on how much you've done since then...

If, however, you haven't found them all yet, I'm very sorry but I have no idea and that means I'm just meaninglessly rambling here, so... Hope you find a solution.
