Exclamation Hk-47 -spoiler-

Having finished the game once and started a new one...this time to try to do everything right I have decided to learn everything about my crew. After learning I was -spoiler- my droid HK-47 has said I was his old master....I later had a talk with him about his memory and his assasin skills and he said I could restore them along with his memory with some kind of repair equipment...Has any of you ever done this? Has any1 restored all the capabilities of HK47? If you have how would I go along doing this?

You can fix his memory if you have a sufficiently high computer skill. And yes, it's silly that you can't use another party member with a high skill for the effort. It's not as though HK-47's inards are keyed to your fingerprints.

But you really gain nothing that you won't receive as soon as your character discovers his true identity. Then, HK-47's own memory access is automatically restored, and his functions as an assassin droid improve dramatically.

you need a high repair*. It is really stupid that you cant fix him with another character because unless youre a scoundral you will have to spend half of your skills into it.

Quite so: repair, not computer. Thanks. But it's essential redundant, in any case. A shame Bioware didn't bother to put a puzzle (and a real puzzle--not the braindead ones they've got in KotoR) in place to support small, incremental improvements to HK-47's memories and abilities.

So they do come back after a while? If so can you like tell him to go kill someone and he will? Like a bounty hunter?

No, not quite. What I mean is that his abilities as an assassin return, and he becomes an extraordinarily effective ranged fighter. But like so many points of possible in-game strategic expansion, nothing was done with this outside of the above. You can't use him to target anybody specific, and he doesn't get any special quests.

That would be cool if his assassin protocal could be reinstated. Kinda like a Iron Golem of D&D Send him out o do your bidding! Well Except "Crush" (My Golem) Would Basically smash everything in its path to kill the target while HK would be MUCHMUCH More descrete.,

I'm fairly certain that HK-47 doesn't receive those upgrades out of course. If you don't get his repairs done before the Leviathan, he won't have them at all. Oh, and it's the scout that gets repair as a class skill, and you need 17 repair for HK-47's final upgrade, although you can boost it up a fair bit with your intelligence bonus/various items.

I've played through twice, and each time, HK-47 recovered his full memory and received an extremely powerful upgrade to his skills automatically after I returned from the first Malak battle. I was astonished at the amount of change. Didn't write down how much, unfortunately; but if you do a search in this forum, I believe others also noted the difference.

A fully repaired HK-47 using the repair skill regenerates 2 vitality points every 30 seconds or so. Does he gain this ability after the Malak confrontation as well?

I remember what gets reactivated when you get him fully fixxed, first he gets a perm +2 bonus to dext,
second gets him another +2 bonus, but not quite sure to what, i beleive dext again,
3rd allows him to regenerate 1 life every 7 seconds
4th and final is a regen of 1 life every 3 seconds.

all things considering the last 2 arent much of bonuses less you just want to spend a ton of time waiting for HK to repair himself rather then just use a repair or what ever.

The repair skill requirements are 8, 11, 14 and 17 in ascending order. The first upgrade is +2 dexterity, the second is +2 defense, the third is +1 VP regeneration per six seconds, and the fourth is another +1 VP regeneration per six seconds plus another +2 dexterity.
