Help - Can't find sword stuck in creature (SPOILERS)

So, this is my third time through this game, and there was no problem the first two times, but on kashykk where you kill that beast at the ceremonial marker, and get the sword to take back to the wookie freyrr, here's the deal. I kill the animal. I search his remains, get some goodies, but there's no sword. I go back to the wookie, he acts like I have no sword, there's no sword in my inventory. I thought before when I did it I just automatically got the sword when I killed the animal, so what gives? I can't rescue my wookie and complete that quest until I get the sword, obvs, so what can I do?

Not a big deal. It seems that most people think sticky threads are intended to provide landscaping.

Did you try searching the forum? We've got an excellent database of previous answers. Maybe look under Kashykk. Worth a shot if it'll cut your wait time down.

You're supposed to pull it out automatically when you kill the beast. It looks like a bug and you will have to load a previously saved game. Or you can try using a cheat code to put the blade in your inventory if you are using the PC version.
