| | | Your ideal living quarters (no spam) ...And don't try to fake us out with "on the beach, among several Baywatch regulars." For shame. We want to know in what kind of dwelling you would ideally like to live, and where. Money isn't an obstacle! We're assuming that you're privately wealthy, and can afford to choose your own place..or places, with all the trimmings you'd wish to add.
Personally, I think my first choice would be a nice country home in England, with lots of tall (10' high) ceilings. Not a vast mansion, but comfortable, with lots of acreage in vast, rolling pastureland and forested countryside. Very private. Plenty of book and CD shelves. Much cherrywood and mahogany; spiral staircases. Lots of storage area in an over-sized room for my wife's quilting activities.

| | I am inclined to agree @Fable...that sounds about right - but I'll have a smaller place - I do not see the appeal of massive grandiose houses...I quite like small places...so a cottage will do me. Or maybe a hovel...nay, a cave! Actually I think I'll have a hobbit-hole somewhere in leafiest Oxfordshire. An easel and a revolving bench to work clay on, some sturdy wooden furniture and a mattress on the floor...luxury .

| | | Something like an old house with modernized innards (concerning kitchen and bathroom infrastructure) at least 2 km from the next public road, so my cats could explore the wilderness without being endangered by cars. A nearby forest would be nice, as well as a garden to grow herbs and vegetables. A well would be great. Old, solid wood furniture would be a good thing too. It doesn't have to be terribly big, but it should feel terribly comfortable, built of natural stone, with wooden floors and with a chimney of course. Places like northern Germany, northern Italy or northern Spain would be OK as a location. Sun and rain should mix and the air shold be fresh. I'm basically looking for a place that is suited to relax, not to impress, the type of place that children and pets would like because children and pets often have a good taste for places to feel good at. |

| | Me? I'd stick myself out on a nice peice of property in a wooded area. A nice, small little cabin with two floors and a loft with a view over the first floor living room. Big windows facing towards the wooded area and high ceilings... Just like those escape cabins that the hero and the lady always hide at in the movies, ya know? That would be my dream place.
That or a nice little apartment in the city. I like small spaces for some reason.

| | I've always had this yearning to live in a underground complex with a nice viewing window out into the ocean, but lately my ideal home has moved to being a round stone tower on a high cliff overlooking either the ocean or a lake. I'd still have a little dungeon though, where I can sit and play computer games

| | For me, I like modern apartments with a great view. But the downside is that apartments with this feature is that they are usually 20 floors up and I hate heights.

| | | I wouldnt like anything too big or too small. The location is all that matters to me. I would choose to live in Bermuda or Aruba. Great places, those are. The house itself, would be moderately sized my bedroom and a bedroom for guests. A bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, computer room a couple closets here and there, all the standard stuff. Im not the greedy type.

| | | Some nice little island in the carribean with beautiful beaches and a small population. My house would be fairly small, on a secluded spot of this island, with glass just about everywhere instead of walls, with a dock right by it, and a nice big yacht. |

| | | Ideal living quarters, down the south-west region on a possibly old farmhouse which I would just love to renovate. The views down there are amazing and the amount of animals that would just pop out of nowhere is impressive. Its like having your own little zoo, minus the fences of course. Ever since I went camping down there, I've fallen in love with the region and would love to retire there in the distant future.

| | | Me, I would live rather large modern house on the cost of a mediteranian country. I would have an olympic size swiming pool, an huge room just for archery and other midevil weapons practice, a room were i can test my home-made exsplosives, and a large bedroom with pool table, ping-pong table, large screen TV and a king size bed for me and my Beutiful, loving, intelegent wife.

| | An old, rambling character home (approximately circa 1900) in a tree-lined neighborhood of some truly cosmopolitan city....First choices would be either Montreal or San Franciso.

| | I've got a pretty ideal set-up already, as I live in my own, custom-designed and hand-built (by me ) railway carriage. If it was close to the beach and had better neighbours it'd be almost perfect.
I'd also like to live on board a yacht, at the marina where my dad has his yacht moored there are a few people who live on board, and it seems to be a nice atmosphere.
I've also designed a large house which I'd love to build one day, but it too would have to be next to the beach, and there are a few changes I have to make to the plans, such as replacing one whole interior wall with a tropical fish tank...
Being next to the beach is a must for any of my ideal houses.

| | I'm getting torn between a large apartament somewhere in the city and a small wooden cabin somewhere in a forest several km from any civilized life. I guess that I could live in the city most of the time enjoying all the benefits of living in a big city, and then every once in a while visiting my littly cottage away from humanity.
Somehow I imagine the apartament's interior as being quite emtpy (very little furniture) and lots of light coming in (big windows). I also imagine a high ceiling to give the illusion of a lot of space.
I imagine my cottage the exact opposite. I imagine it as being small (2-3 rooms in which two people can't walk side-by-side ), with a couple of animals living inside. I guess it wouldn't have lots of light coming in due to it being in the forest, and having small windows..
