Does anybody know how to add color to an email message in Yahoo? I'm looking for the proper syntax and commands. I've noticed it used in some group messages to clarify who's being quoted, and I'd like to do the same. Thanks.

Have you try going into option and picking General Preferences and under Compose Mail, pick Graphics and Colors.
Then you get the whole palette bar for your emails...

From either Yahoo or My Yahoo, I don't observe any Options category.

I haven't seen a way either myself.
I'm sure you could if you rewrite the code in the program if you really wanted to and knew how though.

Funny thing is, others are doing it--so it must be possible.
Stormcloud, I think you're referring to customizing the colors on your own Yahoo display. I'm not looking to do that. I want to recolor the text I write in messages before I send 'em out through Yahoo; specifically those I send out to groups, but I'm sure the code is the same as for their regular email.

Just the text or the display window behind it? The text is easy. Go to the "appearance" tab in the "preferences" menu.

And the help system is singularly unhelpful. Where will I find the preferences menu, at the risk of seeming incredibly stupid?

On my version of yahoo, you click on the "Messenger" tab on the window for your Yahoo Messenger program, go down that tab until you find "Preferences" and then it opens a new window. You go down and find "Appearances" and there's a few options there.
I can also just hit "Ctrl+Shift+P" to bring up preferences on mine too if that's simpler.
Unless your not running the newest version of Yahoo for windows, it should be the same.
Oh wait, is this for Yahoo Mail or their messenger?

If I read it correctly, that doesn't seem to actually effect email, or group mail--the latter being what I need. It just affects IMing via Yahoo.

I could have been clearer. In any case, I suspect there are commands to use--I just don't know 'em.

In yahoo mail its easy. Go to compose mail. Then if you have the additional options available of coloring text and adding emoticons, what you do is highlight the text you want to color and then choose the icon with the "T" and the paint table and choose whatever color you want.
Is that what you wanted?
The reason for you not seeing the additional options of color and stuff could be because you are using an old version of opera. Or that that you have it disabled in your options.
Tell me which it is.
When you click compose mail do you get a serious of buttons that allow you to change font, text size and stuff?

Problem solved, I think. I was probably seeing colors in group email for the simple reason that people were forwarding the contents to offline readers that supplied color options. (You can't add color using the reply option in groupmail.) So I reset my account parameters to send groupmail to my email address that I access in PocoMail.
Thanks, anyway!

It's still not working. I can send a colorized message using PocoMail to a Yahoo group, but it appears in black on white. I give up.
