| | | X-Men Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody knew a lot about x-men. I used to watch the cartoon religiously and I collected the trading cards but that was a while ago. I've basically forgetten everything. Does someobdy want to give a brief history of the x-men and perhaps a description of important characters? Or does somebody know a good site that does this?

| | Thats a huge order Heres a few links. The X-men have had so many series and alternate timelines that it'd be hard to cover them all.
The team started in the late 60's with Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey who later became the Phoenix then turned to Dark Phoenix and back to Jean Grey), The Beast (pre experiment that turned him blue and furry), The Iceman and The Angel, all taught by Professor Xavier. Some of the villains were Magneto and his Brotherhood of evil mutants (Toad, Quicksilver and I think the Scarlet Witch...who reformed and became an Avenger among others). The series continued with the old team disappearing and a new team recruited to find them. New members were Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, James Proudstar (he died in the same issue), Wolverine and possibly Banshee. (My memory is hazy it's been years since I read that issue).
Villains here include the hellfire club (Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, Jason Masters, and Selene). Magneto continued his appearances along with a few alien races intent on conquering earth.

| | The X-Men for me, was the best... ...that Marvel ever came up with.
It's not much of the superpowers and save-the-world plot that interested me (hell, most of these superpeeps have that anyway )...
...it was the human relationships involved, how each individual related with the others, made the whole x-men universe so real and life-like.
Yes, T' I remember James Proudstar, aka Thunderbird(?) whose younger brother, John, joined the Hellions. The Hellions were the Hellfire Club's answer to the X-men's New Mutants.
My favorite group of X-men were during the punkish days of Storm, who briefly led the X-men that included Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Collossus and Shadowcat. I think this was during the Secret Wars time.
And yeah, I loved the fastball special involving Collossus and Wolverine. |

| | I remember being very involved in the whole Phoenix-storyline. Also, I appreciated that Storm and Jean Grey were more powerful than their male teammates. That was new in those days, Chis Claremont was heavily into women's lib. I remember Magneto's face when he was gonna kill the X-men once again and he found out that he wasn't dealing with Marvel Girl, but Phoenix...
Ah, those were the days... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
