| | This looks and sounds rather impressive, CJ. I'm intrigued; the concept of role playing a vampire never sounded more appealing, or fun. |

Okay, let's see: Planescape: Torment, maybe Betrayal of Krondor, and...well...

Okay, let's see: Planescape: Torment, maybe Betrayal of Krondor, and...well... | True enough, but given the first V:tM game that came out, I don't have much faith in it. The only selling factor of the first was the fact you were a vampire. The story was lack-luster, and much too linear.
And now, they're trying to make a sequel, but as an FPS... |

No, "they" aren't. "They" were Nihilistic Games. This is Troika. The guys who made Arcanum, who made Fallout when they worked for Black Isle.
Besides, it's not as if you can't do a good RPG from a first person perspective. Morrowind, anyone? |

Besides, it's not as if you can't do a good RPG from a first person perspective. Morrowind, anyone? | By they, I'm refering to White Wolf, not Nihilistic, which is the first mistak White Wolf made when giving out the rights to make a new V:tM game.
As for the FPS comments, they specifically stated they are moving to a more action oriented game design, which speaks of two things. Diablo-esque, and FPS, neither of which is what RPG's are (and don't give me this load about all games being role playing games). From the sources I have read (more then the crap IGN produces), Troika is leaning heavily towards a combat basis, under the guise of 'evolving' the RPG genre.
And for the comments regarding Morrowind, true, it was first person, but it was not a first person shooter, which is what Troika has said they are tinkering with in Bloodlines design.
Besides, the design of the game is the least of my worries.
Anyway, I won't stop people from buying the game (how can I?), but I can say right now that this strikes me as flopping as badly as the first V:tM did.
@Cjevito: Just on a side note, Arcanum didn't get to good a vote on my behalf either. Too much of it seemed ripped from other games, with only the character openess being a positive note... |

Ah see, there I have to disagree. I thought Arcanum, flawed as it was, was one of the very best games of the past five years. To each their own, of course. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
