Saw a program on danish TV some years ago when these letters started to surface, where the procedure was as I wrote in my initial post. Naturally - that is the more severe cases where blackmail and almost kidnapping is involved.

These scams over e-mail, are usually less severe then the ones where you get actual snail-mail letters and have meetings with actual people.

I've also got these e-mails. First time, I wondered how to react, so I didn't do anything, just saved that mail. Next day I got another mail. The only difference between these two mails was the story, everything else were same (the amount of money, how to react etc.). Next day I got 2 mails that were same excluding the story. Now I just delete if I get those kinds of mails.

BTW, maybe a bit offtopic, but are those Internet Lottery -mails the same series? I've already got about 200 such Lottery Win -mails, and it just came to my mind if these mails comes from same group?

Anything you haven't requested directly (and even then some) is a scam, only attempting to either lure credit-information from you, or getting you to buy something.

Some of them no doubt does, but these letters are mostly reused as well. It is easy to take somebody else scam and just change af few things
