Now I'm only 23 although I may look dashingly handsome and gorgeous but thats not the point, I'm a fairly medium 5'10" tall, and all my mates are round about the same height and age range, what I want to know is what have parents been feeding their kids on???? Most of them are taller than me and thats at 15 when they haven't finished growing! Is it a symptom of evolution or are they all mutants?!?! Any ideas?

Body height is a genetic trait which gets modified by environmental circumstances. If you have tall parents and grandparents, chances are big that you get tall yourself. In order to develop your genetical limit to max, you must however be relatively healthy and get enough nutrition like protein and calcium. The average height in Europe is much taller now than 100 years ago, depending on better health and nutrition for children.
Humans probably won't grow much taller than Dutch or Watusi, since our skeletons will become too fragile at one point.

Hope this is not too off topic, but I have a related question... I've noticed that a lot of teenage girls and young women these days seem.. well... extroardinarily well-endowed. I mean, I often wonder upon passing someone on the street who is otherwise quite slender.. "My God! Are those real?!"
Is this also related to nutrition and body type, or does it have something to do with dairy and meat producers placing too many hormones in food?

I never said there was anything wrong with it It was moreso a query, since I have noticed there seem to be far more girls and young women about whom are generously proportioned, much moreso than when I was in my mid/late teens and early 20s. So I can't help but wonder about the cause.
Or maybe it is just my imagination, or I feel inadequate or something

I hate that when you are doing the little "elevator eyes" bit on a girl as she walks by, and as soon as you get to the face you want to walk down to the jail and turn yourself in. I think there must be a reason for this phenominon. We weren't this luc.. er.. nevermind.

@DW: I don't think they are as real as you think. To the best of my knowledge, many, many girls use padded bra's and such these days, in order to boost the appearance.
As for height, well, I like being a 19 year old 6'2" man

DW, you brought this thing off-topic, now I have to comment.
I have quite a few friends who happen to be a few years younger than me, most female. I go out with them shopping sometimes when I spend the day with them and as jopperm2 said, sometimes when you happen to see a girl, it doesn't look like a girl nowadays. You find a girl about 13, and she could pass for 17, a lot of them happen to take advantage of this too. This ends up happening far more often than I'd like to think about. One of my closest friends now I assumed was 16 when I met her and she was only 13. She's 18 now, but when I first met her, she could have passed for that with a little make-up.
Not only that, you would not believe how hard it is to find little girl clothes for my little sister. I mean, I distinctly remember the kinds of clothes kids wore when I was her age just 15 years ago. You can't find them except at second-hand stores! It's all skin-tight, adult type cut clothes. My baby sister shouldn't wear such things!
As for people ending up taller, I agree with CE. Not that there aren't very short people, or very tall people still. You just can look back through history and if you pay attention notice people getting larger as time goes on. I'm roughly 6' and my brother is about 6' 2". My father is 6' 3", my mother 5' 3". We didn't end up in the middle of those two, as my mother and her mother are the only short people in the family. Everyone else is above average height (5' 8"- 6' 4"), looking at it that way, my brother and I happen to fall right in the middle of things.

They wanna put us in jail when those girls are clearly guity of false advertising. They oughta dress like nuns until they are 18. On second thought no, because then we'll start to like the habit just like we like the school uniforms that were supposed to take care of that problem.
I'm 23 and I'm only 5'8".. I was a little below average for my class but not much.

That or hating bra's, or a number of different things.

@Magrus, I agree with you. They clothes out there these days are downright slutty. "have you met my kids? THe rap star and the stripper." I dread the day my daughter grows up. I don't want her to wear that crap, but on the same note I don't want her to be an outcast either. Now I know why school uniforms are becoming popular in the US.
As far as padded bras, they can't add a whole lot without being obvious. I do see a lot of push ups though. What am I doing? I'm sitting online at work discussing tennage girls' undergarments with some guys I barely know.. somebody get me out of here.
I wonder if the height growth has to do with the perception of tall people as attractive.
Side note, I just pictured an Asian woman walking on the street with a bunch of sweedish people. Aren't genetics something?

As for school uniforms, I'm a huge advocate of them. I went to a Catholic school for my grade 11, 12, and victory lap (didn't have the money to go to university upon graduating, so I figured more schooling), and they had a uniform. All I can say is that I've developed a love affair with pleated kilts | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode
