Imagine that there was a moderator who was not a paragon of virtue and restraint ( I know, I know....but imagine it). This moderator could easily sow confusion and horror just by modifying posts to make them out of character. Assuming this hypothetical being could exist ( I know! but just imagine for a moment, ok?) what modifications might give a clue that it had happened?

For example

Even when moderators alter posts the little "editted" notice will be in the bottom of the post.... I think the only way to do what you think of would be to access the database and alter posts there, which only leaves it possible for Buck to do........... hmmmmm

I think it was purposeful, given the topic of the thread...

Dottie was joking, if you knew Lazarus' posting style it would be obvious. In fact it was a funny joke

@Damuna_Nova:
Poking at a banned member is not very nice of you, seeing as they have no chance to reply or "defend" themselves.

If this mis-quote thread is to be allowed to live, please be somewhat respectfull about the people which are mis-quoted, as it is "dangerous" buisness and very easy to offend/insult somebody unintentionally, seeing as the written language is bad at conveying intent of mind.

Xandax, without wishing to be controversial, I cannot see a substantive difference between what DN did and what Vicsun did. It is true that Lazarus is not banned but he has not posted since October 2005; and that was one post and the next earliest was more than a year before that. It is reasonable to suppose he is unlikely to "have the chance to reply or defend himself" too.

I intended this thread to be light hearted. I take your point about the dangers however. Since I do not think what has happened is positive it might be better if you closed it please
