...was the text printed on several t-shirts I saw recently, which of course made me wonder, yes, who or what is prada?
Is it even a word, can´t seem to find it in any dictionary?

Prada is the name of an evil alien empire who is determined to take over the earth using bad soapie actors turned pop stars. They are based in Australia and are starting their evil plans with Britain. Kylie Minogue and that Holly Valance woman are simply the beginning! Run for your lives (and musical sensibilities)!

Not so! Prada was an Italian shoemaker who designed a child puppet. While he slept one night, a slumming Fairy Godmother happened along, and gave the puppet life. That puppet decided it wanted to become fabulously wealthy and influential. It changed its name to Silvio Berlusconi, stole Prada's small fortune in gold coins, and built your typical ultra-conservative media empire. Then, it had the old, now-penniless shoemaker evicted and thrown into jail. Berlusconi subsequently married the slumming Fairy Godmother, and gave her a talk show to keep her occupied while he took over the reins of state.
And they all lived happily ever after.

Prada is the result of some terrible spelling mistake, where it should in fact read Pravda, which is Russian for "Truth". Pravda was a Bolshevik daily, published in St. Petersburg and founded in April 1912 on the initiative of the St. Petersburg workers. For a long time, it was a source of political propaganda until Gorbatshov introduced the glasnost and perestrojka and it was among the first periodicals to begin solid critique of the government. With communism out of the way, "Pravda" has nowadays become a source of tabloid fantastic journalism and regularly reports on encounters of the 3rd kind. Many believe this is where the X-files tagline "The Truth is out There" comes from.
