The latest one is so bad, I could make up a better one in my sleep! Apparently, the US has had insiders in Al Quaeda for seven years, and now one of them is going to the press with information about how Al Quaeda has misled the US government into attacking Iraq. Can this be anything other than spin? Even if it isn't, why isn't anyone asking the relevant questions, like; "If you've had an insider for seven years, how could you miss 9-11?" or "Why haven't you found Osama?".

So if anyone knows where you send your resumé to get a job as a spindoctor, let me know. It seems to be a promising career path...

Oh....that's rich...

In my view it simply indicates just how desperate they've become... and I doubt the timing in the post midterm election phase is exactly coincidental..

Seems to me that this administration either hires no spindoctors, or they fill the post with idiots

Exactly! I would do a much better job. How about "We found out Saddam and Osama have a secret love affair, so we capture Saddam and are now waiting for Osama to come and rescue him".

Seriously though, it is actually simple enough to work. The target for any spin being run at this time is hardly the intellectual elite - I think we can safely say that they've been lost already - but rather the gullible masses. If you can convince them ever so little that the whole thing was a mistake made because of bad intelligence way back, you can get focus off some of the more incriminating issues of today. So, it's really doubly upsetting, since it is so dumb it hurts and it might just work perfectly. Now, if you all excuse me, I'm going to go beat up some people calling me a cynic
