Alright, many of my friends keep saying that we have went past our gaming peaks already. Our ages are between 18-21. I think I can keep getting better at video games as I get older personally. I'm not going to let some 10-15 year old beat me at a video game. Anyways, what's your thoughts.

It depends on the type of game, but for games where visumotor speed is important, (like old platform games or some FPS) the peak age should be before the motor speed goes down which is around 25-30.
However, I actually think that basic skills like visumotor speed plays a negligable role in gaming skills. The most important factor is practice. The more you play, the better you will be. The earlier you started playing, the better you will be since practicing has better effect when you are a child compared when you are adult and your nervous system has less plasticity.
Age effect on gaming skills has probably extremly little effect in itself, but older people often have other things to do in life and thus cannot and do not wish to play games as many hours a week as school kids.

I think my motor skills peaked somewhere around the age of five. They've been going downhill, ever since.
And yes, I know that was over a hundred years ago. Beat you to it, didn't I?

I find my interest in playing in general is starting to wane. I don't have as much time to invest in playing video games as I did before, so I tend to not start any up as much. I still WANT to play, but I just never get around to it. Such is the case for many of my geekish habits, such as D&D and miniature painting. I just don't have the time to invest anymore. Especially lately: work, sleep, work, sleep, eat, work, sleep, work, sleep... fun times are had by all. *blargle*

I didn't really get into RPGs at all til I was in my 20s so I'd say I'm just the right age now for what I would call real RPGs. I have noticed that my interest in first person shooters and the more fighting based RPGs has dropped though.

My peak was my early to mid teens: 10-15 or so. Those were the RPG, Goldeneye and RTS days that will never be bettered.

10-15 years old. I remember when I would spend every moment outside of school playing strategy games. I blew through my school work during school and stayed up ALL night playing games. I could rent a game for a week and play it all the way through, guaranteed. Unless those evil monsters gave me a project. EVIL PROJECTS!

Heh. I almost wish the title had no spam in it now...
I think my peak was last yea, I had too much free time to play games, so I overdid it and just started getting bored in them. Now, I just don't really play them for long, not even Oblivion which does have people hooked. *shrugs*

Well, if you're talking about interest in gaming or time spent, it would be late teens. I played for hours every day in high school and college of all genres and was hooked on lots of different games.
But if you want to talk about skill, I'd probably say mid 20s. At that point even though I wasn't playing as much anymore, I could pick up a game and jump the learning curve much quicker than other people and beat them with very little experience until they had played the game for a LONG time. I've noticed I can't do that as well anymore, so I think I'm in that long, slow downward spiral.

Part of being a better gamer as you get older isn't your reaction time, but being able to "understand" who you're playing against and taking advantage of that knowledge. This has more impact in different types of games, and each person is better at different types of games. I generally have never done well at FPS but do really well in 3rd person action and RPG games.

right now i spend almost all of my free time playing video games, and if i do say so myself i'm fairly good at it... most of my friends live on the other side of the city so i don't go out much. when i do go out it's to play video games mostly.

Looking at the replies after you, however, I fear not many got it.
