| | | What are you thankful for? Here in the US, Thursday will be a day of football, gorging on poultry, seeing relatives you haven't seen since last Christmas and preparing for the big shopping day on Friday. Most of us will be off work and either travelling to see others or hosting friends and family in our homes.
What is everyong thankful for this year? - That my wife is allowing me to hang enough lights on the house so that it might be mistaken for the airport's outer marker, and can possibly be seen from space.
- That I have a job.
- That my kids can play in the backyard and not worry about stepping on a land mine left over from the last war.
- That my father's heart blockage can be treated with diet and exercise instead of surgery.
- That my grandmother's mind is still sharp as a tack even though her body is failing her.
- That the kids are healthy, working and doing well in school.
- That I have to worry what I'm going to do with all of the leftover food from dinner tomorrow and not where my next meal is coming from.
- That I can spend a day surrounded by the people I love.

| | Well...it's not Thanksgiving here, but there's certainly lots I'm thankful for....
1) Exams are over and I don't have to worry about working hard for another month and a half
2) That America has bounced back very well since 9/11
3) That my mother gets the proper, nutritious food that growing teens need, and that she cares for my brother, sister, and I
4) That my father has a well-paying job and he is able to support my family
That's all I can think of atm.

Besides that, I just appreciate having a great job, and my two pet cats keeping me company so I don´t need to feel lonely at home. |

| | I am thankful for being able to think for myself, for having what I need to do what I want with my life, and for this fascinating conversation room where I can talk to people from America and Asia and anywhere as if the troubles spawned by our physical world where nothing...I can feel like a great brain in a jar...a silent mind communicating wordlessly, with other noble clever silent minds.

| | | I am thankful for a lot of things, basically everything I have done nothing at all do deserve but have got just by luck.
1. I am thankful I live in a safe, wealthy and healthy (well, physically at least) environment where all my essential needs are fulfilled without me doing any special effort. Food, clothes, shelter, medical care - everyhing is easy to get when needed. What a majority of human beings struggle every day to get, I have in plenty without lifting a finger.
2. I, my family and most of my friends are free from any major disruptive diseases or disorders.
3. I have this job that is the best thing I've ever found in life, I have wonderful bright, stimulating, loving and caring people around me. I have been privileged enough to choose what I want in life in all fundamental respects. I have everything I need and want, and I am free do to anything I'd wish for. It never ceases to amaze me how deeply unfair our world is.
Yesterday, I met one of my former patients in the entrance to the clinic. He is a young man coming from a country where war and poverty has ruined many lives. He was born with a rare genetic disorder, and is severely disabled. His father is dead and his mother has a severe disease herself. Malnutrition has made his condition worse, and he also has a psychiatric disorder where painful persisiting anxiety is one of the symptoms. He was walking restlessly back and forward in the entrance, trying to smile when he saw me since he obviously recognised me.
It is so very easy to be very thankful for a lot of things.

| | | I am thankful for having such great friends that keep me alive. Thats about all...I'd be dead without them, I would've killed myself long ago.

| | Basically - For the friends I have
- For living in a secure place without war, poverty and anything that leads to it
- For my education, my parents did a good job I guess
- For anything I have in general, including the possibility to chose my own way
- For all the good moments given to me by other people

| | If I look around I'm very thankfull for all good things despite the hardships I've been thru for these couple of years. Other people may be not as lucky as I do - perhaps they are more lucky than me. Yet I'm still gratefull for that.
Also I'd like to thank all you guys; SYMer (veterans and newbies), Buck & the mods without you guys I probably can't make it thru all these years
