I watched severl movies last weekend and thought I'd share the experience with you.
I saw the Doors, the Crow, Hamburger Hill and Dumbo.
I've never seen Dumbo all the way thru. Great.
"I've seen a house fly!"
I've got 115 DVD's, you see, and Dumbo was on the TV. Anyone else watch anything interesting?

I watched "Man on the Moon" - the story of Andy Kauffman. It surprised me as it was a genuinely good Jim Carrey movie

@Sleep: that is a very good movie - so unlike Jim Carry to play "serious".
I just got Matrix on DVD for half the prize of a new and watched that one (seen it several times before though, but still good)

I like Jim Carey but I *hated* man on the moon. I think because I couldn't stand Andy Kaufman, and carey did such a good job of it!!!
He was such a pr*ck and I could not sympathise with him when he got cancer.

My wife and I watched the old flick, To Have and Have Not, this past weekend, with Bogart and Bacall. Good acting from them, but generally a poor film and a real dud of an ending. I never realized Bacall was such a scarecrow at the time. Her body looks like Frank Sinatra's with shoulder pads.

| Most of the old movies with Bogart were not exactly amazing plot wise, it was usually the acting that shone through. Anyone remember "The treasure of Sierra Madre" that was mostly crap, and so obvious, but the acting was still excellent - if a little over done. I enjoyed "To have and Have Not" but you are right it's plot is a little basic
@Grunt, i enjoyed the film, i but i have to agree Kauffman wasn't that funny, he just seemed offensive.....reminds me of Ubik

Andy Kaufman was one of those guys that you either loved or hated. I never cared for him, but the fact that Man on the Moon made you either love or despise him speaks of Jim Carrey's acting ability.
Speaking of which . . . Carrey is one of those guys that people refuse to take seriously because they think of him as Lloyd Christmas (Dumb and Dumber), Ace Ventura, or Fireman Bill. But if you look at his dramatic roles in The Truman Show, Man on the Moon, and the previews of the upcoming The Majestic, he's actually a pretty good actor.
Over the holiday weekend two of the greatest movies ever made were on TV: A Christmas Story and Airplane. The only thing better would have been to throw in Young Frankenstien and The Blues Brothers.
