Dunno if there already has been a thread about this but anyways,
Who do you think is the biggest thread killer in SYM?
I'm asking because I'm worried might have killed the interplay forums yesterday, 'cause they shut down three hours after I joined.

Enough anger to cause loss of control. This seems to be the case on most boards I've observed. As soon as that happens, either people cluster and take part, or conversation dies. I suspect it has to do with the idea that somebody is really being hurt by the discussion, and nobody wishes to provoke that any further, though it could also just be a general wish to not get involved in anything unpleasant. Your choice.

Threadkiller?
fable.
But seriously, something that anyone could take offense to and complain to the mods enough to get it killed.

Your choice. | I think this hits the nail on the head. When people are cruel and disrespectful of other people, when they come across as overly confrontational or try to belittle any one who does not agree with their point of view. This is hurtful and it kills any desire to continue any sort of dialouge. At least it does for me

Wow Audace, you've gained a rank! You are no-longer just a thread killer, you shall now be known as the board killer! Next step is web-site killer

Anyways, apart from conflict, I don't think that most conversations (on forums) stop because of people acting nasty.
Just look at the threads that got "killed" after I posted. http://gamebanshee.com/forums/showth...threadid=24131 http://gamebanshee.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=3 http://gamebanshee.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=2 http://gamebanshee.com/forums/showth...threadid=23731 http://gamebanshee.com/forums/showth...threadid=23742
And this is just a small selection.
I know I'm not a social person, and my remarks are lame most of the time, but for a attention/recognition seeking sod/narcist like me, it's not a good thing when conversation stops immediately after i join a discussion.
And I'm to paranoid to believe it's just one of those things that happens.
So, why are y'all dissin' me...?....

| | Oh, that. We've all felt from time to time that we were killing threads that way, and, consequently, felt like we were some type of leper ... or, uh, well, I have felt that way from time to time.
