Unhappy To think that a phenomenon in poetry and personal battles has passed on at 13...

According to this article, best-selling child poet Mattie Stepanek lost his battle with a rare form of Muscular Distrophy on Tuesday. With the way that he had to fight a hard battle to do anything with his short life, I feel I have to salute him. I have had my own grudging personal battles (which I shall elaborate more on in time, if you all feel you need to know), so this really appeals to my soft and tender side.

Any comments?

Sorry if this took a while. I work on weekends.

Me, I was born with a learning disability that made many social interactions nearly impossible. Making good conversation with anyone was often a chore in itself. My judgement of right and wrong wasn't the greatest either.

Still, I had a mind almost like a supercomputer, collecting and processing information (namely of facts and figures) that made my classmates green with envy! Eventually, I was honored by the grade school that I attended by having a personal triumph award made in my name. I actually presented that award on own for the first time ever on Friday the 18th, with much appreciation by everyone who attended the school's graduation ceremony.

Those who struggle are never fully forgotten.
