Thieves? A Latine Diplomatic jewelry.

In a macro observation, in times of World Cup is dificult to pay attention in politics( BTW the brazilian President "Poll" is made just after the World Cup because of this.[If Brazil win the cup no one knows who is going to drive the country]).

But Argentina and Uruguai give us a diplomatic riff-raff interesting to observation.

Jorge Batlle, Uruguai President, classificate, in TV, that all Argentina politicians are a "Corpus of Thieves, Charlatans...". He made it because Uruguai is being affect strongly by Argentina crisis, and because he do not imagine the repercurtion of his declaration.

Diplomatic incident created.

One day later(Yesterday), Jorge Batlle himself arrives to Argentina for quit the incident and ,in tears, ask to Duhalde(Argentina's President [how long?]) to forgive his(Batlle) irresponsable words.
Diplomatic incident solved.

But,
Today, in a opinion poll the majority of the population in Argentina show their concordance with the former declaration of Batlle, that they(Argentina politicians) are all a "Corpus of Thieves" responsible or irresponsable by the actual crisis.
In other words, they don't understand the purpose of the forgiveness. He was right.

Ps:I'm not trying to make fun of the crisis in any way. Just the lazyness of their presidents. And also offer solidariety to the Argentina people, who is passing throught this crisis, protesting and making noise like the politically population that they are.
What is also an great example of civil discordance , especially for America Latina.

I heard about this today, and it came under the sensationalised title

Don't call us thieves: Argentina

This was suppose to be because of Argentina's supposedly corrupt government and the comment was regarded as being "off the record".

I guess this would of arisen from the economic problems within Argentina, but can anyone explain how the relationship managed to hit such a sour note.

Is that sung to the tune of "Don't cry for me Argentina"?

My impression was that Uruguay's head of state said the Argentinian *people* were all thieves, and that the comments were made off-the-record but reported, anyway. Regardless of whether Argentinian politicians or people were involved, heads of state have to deal with one another on a daily basis. It won't do to admit the truth about one's feelings out in the open, unless of course your name is Sharon and you consider all your opponents little better than bestial demons.
