From BBC news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4731128.stm Sony's next-generation PlayStation 3 console could miss its spring launch if industry specifications for some of its technology are not finalised soon.
The PS3 will offer games as well as the ability to play music and watch videos, as it seeks to take on rivals Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution.
It will feature cutting-edge technology in its DVD, processors and graphics.
Sony said if industry specifications on some of the PS3 were not decided soon "the launch could be pushed back".
Heh, the console I would buy may be delayed. Damn, that's bad. Comments? Dreams about playing Oblivion shattered? |

| | The delay doesn;t bother me so much. It's not like I'd be getting it at launch anyway, I usually wait until the games start coming out pretty regularly since most launch titles are usually not up my alley anyway. That, and I need to save money. 
As far as Oblivion goes, I'll play it on PC. Besides, as far as I know, it's an XBox 360 release anyway.

| | | Considering the miserable failure of Xbox360, both Sony and Nintendo now does not have to worry about a few months delay anyway. It is worth making good quality machine with many good titles than rush the job and release without any proper titles just to meet the schedule.

| | | Im not surprised that the ps3 most likely wont make the spring launch, ill be amazed if it comes out around thanksgiving.
And yes Oblivion is a 360 and pc only launch. Its one of the few reasons i got a 360, all the computers in my house would just keel over and die if I tried to play any thing newer than Age of EMpires 2 on them. |

| | | Doesn't bother me. While not being much of a console-phyte, I am considering purchasing one of the next gens. Out of the three it would probably be either the Xbox360 as Microsoft has seemed to have grabbed a lot of good licenses (Oblivion/Rare titles) or the next Nintendo offering (Mario Kart Double Dash multiplayer on the GameCube has recently become a staple in my drinking sessions). |

| | | Neither surprised nor disappointed, since I've practically been expecting a delay, and the only next-gen console that I have the slightest bit of interest in is the Nintendo Revolution, and even that isn't tempting enough for me (although if another Fire Emblem game comes out for it...). |

I hope they sort out that controller problem...it didnt look too impressive to me  ...hope fully if delayed it will come out by september. 
Im extremely mad at Nintendo right now so Im not really looking forward to the revolution.....hopefully it wont disappoint me like the gamecube... which isnt producing that many great or good games....  ...*still waits for Zelda*

I've heard that they hate the MS console games, and in fact I am forced to say that Nintendo has a very different way to produce games, they seem far more bright than Sony's or Ms's games IMO. |

The Xbox really hasnt had much of an impact in japan as it did here...so the 360's low sales isnt something new in Japan. Another factor there is that xBox has a lot of shooter games...which in Japan isnt too popular as the RPG genres are...which the Sony can easily supply them with...along with Gamegube...which makes me mad since they havent really been producing that many....and right now the only thing keeping GC with a pulse is the waiting of Zelda.

I would personally rather have someone says "Oops, we need more time to do this right. Sorry, you'll have to wait." Rather than say 3 months after I buy something worth 3-400 dollars "Oops, we screwed up. You wasted your money." because it breaks on me. I doubt I will be getting the PS3, but considering the problems Microsoft has dealt with in it's first and second forey into the console market, I think they may be done after this one unless they pull something spectacular out of their....hats.... Using shoddy hardware is a no-no when you are selling electronics.
I have to say, I do happen to trust Sony products for quality. This just proves it.

This just proves it. | I agree, when has sony really let us down?never IMO.....if they need more time to improve anything on there that would benefit our play time then why worry....I am in no hurry right now.....and I probably wont but one until later on anyways....
