'Saw it four times, was genuinely impressed, but still harbour some questions about the whole movie:
1. Neo is the "Chosen One" by virtue of... what? His ability to hack? Does being a Kevin Dorner clone give him the power to bend virtual reality?
2. If you die in the Matrix, you die in real life. How come? Is it because the brain cannot distinguish one reality from another? Those who enter the Matrix, however, "know" they are entering the Matrix - they shouldn't die because their consciousness remains undivided. I mean, even we SYMians understand the difference between what is real and what is not real, right? Right? Right?!?!
3. 95% of the human race is encased in cocoons of amniotic fluid, their minds plugged into the Matrix, and their bodies guarded by mechanical octopuses bristling with lazer guns. How in the world will Neo and Morpheus liberate them all? They can't even walk! Their muscles are atrophied! (A typical Zion classified ad - "Wanted: 1 billion actupuncturists to mobilize humanity. Must be willing to work overtime").
4. Matrix II... Summer 2002?
... and last but not least -
5. Red or blue pill?
...

| Neo could walk immediately after he got out o' the pod. I be guessin' everyone else can as well. Quote: |
4. Matrix II... Summer 2002?
| Sometime sooner I be hopin'. It be sweet that it's gonna be a trilogy. Quote: Which one did which again?
I'd take the one to stay in Wonderland fer sure. O' course, if I didn't know what was "outside", I think it'd be the o'er one. I just be too curious.

| Subcounsushly(sp?) you think because they(the robot thingys) did sucha good job in disguising it to the mind it does look real

He just is! He was born the "Chosen One", could have been anyone but just so happened to be a hacker

Yeah, the idea is that your brain thinks it's real, and therefore you react in the same way as you would IRL. What I don't get is when Neo dies (in the matrix, and IRL - he flatlines) and comes back to life. It would make sense if he only died in the matrix, but even being the chosen one isn't supposed to give him any more control over the real world. So how come he can die IRL? Doesn't make sense.

3. How in the world will Neo and Morpheus liberate them all?

If we knew the answer to that, we wouldn't need to watch the sequels now, would we? Although the answer is probably "because he is The One"!

4. Matrix II... Summer 2002?

I believe they are in production at the moment. Current release dates say the US will see Matrix II in December 2002, and Matrix III in August 2003

5. Red or blue pill?

Can't remember, haven't seen it for ages...

It's a movie for god sake.
Doesn't anyone just watch movies for the experience any more?
Analyse this, analyse that... sheesh! No wonder we aren't going anywhere in the world today, where all still chasing our tails trying to figure out how it's stuck on!

@Vehemence: Don't ye go tellin' me ye watch The Godfather just fer the "experience". If ye don't analyse that film, ye haven't truly seen it.

Your partly right Armadin. I haven't truly seen it. In fact, I haven't seen it at all.

i think the movie rocked! it was a very cool, well thought out fantasy, that was portrayed 'excellent'ly(sorry Keuno reeves will be forever known from Bill and Ted's movies) by the cast. Morpheus was the best character IMO. i thought it was an interesting observation the bad guy made about the human race(us being a virus of sorts). the special effects were top notch, and it makes you think "what is deja vu anyway?".
i would have taken the pill to stay with Morpheus then sold them out like the one guy did.(yes, i am evil)
EDIT-Neo living in the end was pure movie magic. i mean, you had to have the 'LOVE CONQUERS ALL' fairy tale ending, or it wouldn't have made it in hollywood(much less, how to make 2 more Matrixes)

The entire time I was watching the matrix, I was thinking "you can't use humans as batteries. That violates the 1st law of thermodynamics. You'd have to but sooo much more energy into sustaining them then you'd ever get back"
That and canoe's deplorable acting wholly ruined it for me. I didn't like the female lead much better. Her face ached.

@Waverly: Lemme guess. The Star Wars trilogy sucked, right?
Not that I finded The Matrix extraordinary, I just not thinked it were that bad.
If there be one trilogy I will be lovin' forever, it be The Godfather, except the 3rd film, that sucked.

Technology to which the laws of thermodynamics don't apply?! That's crazy talk
I'm quite fine at suspending disbelief... but I need the movie to give me some help. In fact I did quite like the Star Wars trilogy, though the prequal was a bit weaker. Did I say I hate canoe?

BTW-they weren't aliens they were A.I. robots that we built with the ability to build others as well as think for themselves.
i was watching a show on the discovery channel about artifitial(?) intelligence, and the people building this sluff are saying things like, "they could see us as pets or a nuisence, lets hope it's pets". and they are still building this stuff! WHY!!
ok that was a little off subject, but the movie is basically a worst case scenario of what AI can become.
