If you're not the type to shy away from a little Christianity themed music, you should hear some Timber Timbre. The man has a haunting voice, I'm really liking it.
Otherwise.. well I've been listening to Beirut, Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene) and The Most Serene Republic today as well.

Honestly.... He has the kind of voice that makes me go weak at the knees...
And, I'm not normally one to even be affected by singers and the like!
Heh! NOW I know why I like you! It's a decidedly 'come to bed' voice, isn't it? I'm 72 and way past it, but he affects me the same way!

Well, I guess he would be pleased, at that. That's why, by his own admission, he went into the poetry and music game after all - to attract girls!

He'd be even more pleased if you BUY his CDs and books (so he can get the royalties), and don't just download 'em!

You'd be surprised at how charming many of his songs sound on a ukulele. edit: which I picked up for much the same reason I listen to Cohen.

This is exactly what I was referring to when I made my post, and I'm glad you picked up on it I actually bought the Live in London DVD on a whim a few days ago, after seeing your signature.

Are we talking about general music preferences or music that happens to be on our playlist right now?

I think anything goes.

@Kip,
Those clips you linked are pretty good. I take back what I said about being unholy.

Hey! Cool!

But... a ukelele? Shades of George Formby!

A ukulele doesn't necessarily have to sound whimsical

I didn't know a ukelele could sound like that. I'm impressed. Thanks for posting the link.
