Anyone else remember the old TV series? I was pretty young when I saw it, but I have fond memories of it. | Readthebookreadthebookreadthebookreadthebookreadth ebookreadthebookreadthebookreadthebook
The book rocks
read it

| | I think Giles wants us to read the books
I'm just hoping that they capture, as has been said, Adam's sense of wit into the movie. As the BBC proved, you can go wrong with the Guide.
As for Ford Prefect, the only other person I can see cast as him would've been Jeff Goldbloom. Something about him strikes me as a good Ford Prefect. |

| | The Guide was done as a BBC radio show before it was ever released as a book.
But the first TV adaptation was dire, and I suspect that this one will be equally bad but in a fresh and contemporary way.
Martin Freeman's a brilliant choice for Ford, and Mos Def will also be a good Ford I believe (listen to his albums and you'll believe that he wouldn't know what a Ford Prefect was if it ran him over with spinning dub-plates) but Marvin looks like a $29 Japanese kids toy, and they've interpreted the brain-the-size-of-a-planet embarassingly literally.
Remember the Red Dwarf film pitch was turned down because it doesn't have a leading lady ...Hollywood just can't do this kind of thing.

| | | Don't get me started on americanised film adaptations of british comedy. I've been waiting for the Red Dwarf film for years which the american film industry keeps screwing up. I just have the horrible feeling that HGTTG will go the same way.

My question is, why would you be waiting for the Red Dwarf film when you could buy the DVD boxsets? Duh.

Smoke me a kipper.. | I think I'll stick to the boxset and ignore the film, all the same.
I'll be back for breakfast!
