| | | The Gull's Roost Tavern and Inn Imagine you have been ambling along a beach for the better part of the day. The raucous crying of gulls and the crash of surf upon cliffs resonates within your ears, while the tang of ocean brine fills your lungs with each breath.
The sun is bright and the wind, blowing in from the west, is invigorating. All of a sudden you see a structure in the distance. As you come closer, you note that it is surprisingly large. Weathered clapboard gives the building a slightly distressed look, but the sign you see above the door looks warm and inviting. Welcome to the Gull's Roost Tavern, a meeting ground for old sailors, restless spirits and thirsty wanderers
You remember that you are indeed thirsty, and perhaps a little hungry as well. Inspired by the sudden image of your favourite beverage and a plate of food you push open the solid wooden door. As your eyes adjust to the dimmed light you can see a long oaken bar behind which reside rows of gleaming bottles. Ceramic handles indicate a large selection of ales on tap, while the scent of home-cooked food wafts from the kitchen. A band is setting up in one corner of the tavern, and a passing serving wench carrying a tray piled high with food and frothing mugs of ale draws your attention to the extensive menu.
Patrons occasionally wander in and out. It is not bustling, but there is a lively feel to the air.
You find a table and sit down.

Though I suppose it could also be fairly said that many of the people who indulge in organic fruit juices and soy milk already inhabit an alternate universe of their own to begin with (well, at least those around the Hippy Coast anyway )

At least along the West Coast of North America anyway. It all stems from the hippy culture of the 60s and 70s.
Actually, I've had the stuff, and it really varies in taste and quality. Some of it *is* godawful, practically to the point of sending you to the porcelain alter. But, I've also tried brands that are surprisingly good. I hate the taste of cow's milk, so consequently I've attempted many of the alternatives.
Still... the health food nuts take it to a real extreme. It's not uncommon while standing in a lineup to get a coffee to hear, "Could I please have a decaf, no-fat, no foam, soy latte."
*shudder* I mean really... why bother?

| | The point is, of course, to make you feel guilty about your own choice of drink

@Greg,
well I thought you'd like that, knowing your fondness for grizzled seafarers and all. Indeed, come to think of it, I probably had you in mind

Perhaps, after you have met the sailor of your dreams, you will send DW a nice gift basket of muffins, or some form of Hippy health food, in appreciation... SLAP

And btw Greg, make sure those are flaxseed muffins. That shouldn't be a problem for you since I'm sure there are no shortage of organic ingredients in your particular location.

*shudder* I mean really... why bother? | I must be the opposite to the health food fanatics then as I always order the least healthy drink possible if I go out for a coffee - why have something I could make at home when I could have something fancy

So do you serve juice boxes and corn dogs here?

As long as they don't come up to the bar asking for a pint though, I don't want to be arrested for serving minors
