| | The College of Basket Weaving Have you ever, while surveying college or university course offerings, started to dream up your own pointless courses?
I used to do this quite frequently, and I ended up having a conversation with somebody recently who reported having done exactly the same. Hence, the inspiration behind this thread. The idea is to design a parody of a university/college calendar by listing courses that are utterly pointless and incongruous.
A couple to start off with:
* Crowd control in the Sahara: This course will survey provide students with a basic understanding of population density problems and urban crowding in the Sahara.
* Star Gazing in Metropolitan New York: An introduction to the night sky and its seasonal changes in New York City.

| | Gaming in Real Life: This course is where you take what you learn from games and apply your new-found knowledge to the real world. A Nod to SYM: For this course, you must learn how to become one with SYM and how to converse in the native dialogue of SYM. Once you have your degree you will be acknowledged as a fully-fledged SYMian.

| | | Two of these three are made up courses, and one I actually took- which one do you think is real?
(a)Philosophy of celebrity in the 21st century world
(b)Metaphysics of solipsism
(c)The Meaning of Life The answer is... (c) The Meaning of Life. It was a philosophy course for 2nd semester seniors that tried to deal with existential issues like meaning, fulfillment, etc. Not surprisingly, it was a seminar that met once a week in a bar! (yes, it was an official course, for credit) |

Of course... this may also be because there are a number of nude beaches in the same area

I don't know that I'd personally go so far as to refer to our government as 'socially responsible' (I think that label more properly applies to the Scandinavian nations) but it is fair to say that in comparison to many other countries we have it pretty good
lmao! It would not surprise you that just after the last US election a joke site pretending to help US Liberals emigrate North via marriage was actually treated seriously by many people who saw it
It can still be viewed here: http://www.marryanamerican.ca/
