The Best PC Game In The World (No Spam)

I don't know if this thread's been done before...please link me if it has...

Anyway...what is the BEST *fanfare* game in the world? Short answers people, only the name of the game and (if you want) an explanation is necessary...if you want to discuss why this type of classification is impossible, we can make another thread for that...anyway, fire away people!

p.s. And whoever says Half-Life is gonna have to explain themselves very very well indeed . I know it's a great game, but the way it gets voted 'Best Game Ever' every time is certainly down more to its reputation by now than anything else...

My vote goes to Dungeon Keeper II. I love that game...I played it for ages, and still do play it regularly, even after about 4 years .

Close second BGII of course, and BGII undoubtedly the best RPG, fantasy game or single player game there is...

What can I say? I'm a sucker for management

Planescape Torment, like reading a really good book, but you are the one effecting it.

I was *going* to say Half-Life! The grpahics are amazing, and it's extremely-well crafted as a game. I quess we all have our own opinons.

But now, I have to say Baldur's Gate 1. The game was brought down into beautiful detail, an excellent plotline that just had me guessing through the whole game, and the fact that It was just so dang big. But, another thing that makes it good was the fact that you could play it over and over, Single or MultiPlayer games.

Best PC Game in the world "Ever": Zork II

Best PC Game in the world "today's world": BG2. The game is still the benchmark by which all new CRPG are measured against. All CRPG's that have followed are not its' equal. I would say NWN has the potential.

Something else just came to me. The most classic game-no not Pong, but Sonic The Hedgehog. I dont know whether I like it better than BGII but I certainly find it addicting. 11 years after I got the game Im still playing it.

Definately CounterStrike, I've been playing the game for over 3 years and it still is addictive, BGII and Red Alert 1 would be runnerups but you play single player maybe a coupla times and then you're done (in RA1's time you hardly had internet over here).

I have two that deserves sharing first place:

Planescape: Torment.

The very first version of Pool of Radiance, the one SSI released even before releasing the 2nd version that was built with the same engine as the classic Gold box games. The very first version used a more complex engine that allowed for more complex RPG:ing, then they simplified the engine, I think in order to be able to produce more games swifter when they realised PoR became a hit.

There are a couple of games that i consider Best Games and i can't decide which is better so i'll give them both,

1. Gabriel Knight - Sins of the fathers

2. Baldur's Gate i know BGII is better than its prequel but no game can pass the feeling of BG when we first played it.

Thumbs up

BG1 was my favorite. Sure it doesn't have some of the nicer/newer aspects of BG2, but I really liked starting my char from lvl 1 and I thought the story behind BG1 was more interesting. By the time BG came around the remainder of the story was pretty strait forward.

My favorite action game was Mech Warrior 2, too bad I lost my copy

1. Tie-Fighter. Played obsessively for 3 years.

2. Baldur's Gate II. 'Nuff said.

3. Red Alert. The first one. Tank rushes rule!

4. Warcraft 2. Got me hooked on fantasy.

I have yet to encounter a game where I have constantly played and will keep on playing for years after. BG1 came close so it gets my vote.
