Preliminarily results are in. Swedes won't be changing their currency. At least not until the next referendum.
This also diminishes the chances that Denmark will vote 'yea' since Scandinavian countries tend to have quite a lot of influence on each other.

Thoughts?

Yeah - to bad, to bad, to bad .... *sigh*, well

Well - actually on one plane of exsitance, I'm okay with the fact that the Swedes vote no.
The polls althrough the campaign have said that the no-side had a major gap down to the yes-side, and with Anna Lindhs death, it would have been "unfair" if the sympathy votes would have swayed such an importen referendum.

Although I wish for Denmark (and Sweden) to vote yes, I would want it on real political and economical arguments, not sympathy votes, wich would also be a smack in the face of democracy.

So - although I'm displeased with the result, and am horrofied by the murder of Anna Lindh, I'm okay with that the murder didn't sway the votes to much.

Well, to bad. I guess we will survive another year or whenever they decide to vote again.

I don't think there will be another ref until atleast 2008 maybe even later...... the next joining period is jan 2006 and since we are not joining then we have to wait until atleast 2010 to join and 2008 to vote........ it's a long time but I can understand why all the other swedes (I'm a yes sayer) voted no. The economy off all the major EMU countries is terrible atm and the swedish economy is actually legues better than f.ex. Germany.......
