Over years, I've found myself reacting to various sounds in ways I never thought possibly. My skin rises in massive goose bumps, my hair feels like it's rising, and my muscles become tight. I also feel as if I'm ready to face an army all by myself.

The sounds that do these are:
- Marching
- clashing steel weapons (mostly swords)
- mixed, frenzied battle cries
- unified charging battle cries (what you may hear in many ancient war documentaries and games)
- fast instrumentals (mostly with electric guitars and bass drums)
- epicly dramatic rock music (mostly Rammstein and Iced Earth)
- epic battle music from games & movies
- some construction or heavy labor sounds, mostly the use of hammers

What about any of you? Any scientific explanations of this, too?

That tends to happen quite a lot to me as well. I respond viscerally to sound, and to music in particular.
Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture often gives me chills, depending on my mood at the time. At the opposite end of the spectrum, I also respond deeply to the sound of rain, or one my cats purring, both relax me, and I can literally feel any tension ebbing away.

Other sounds? There's nothing that sets me on edge quite as much as the sound of a Jack hammer, it is right up there with the proverbial 'nails down the chalkboard'

I don't know very much about it, but my guess is that we react to the actual feel of sound waves as they hit us. Some alternate healers, in fact, do a lot of work with sound; it's fascinating stuff.

If you are interested, I started a similar thread (though just about music), some time back, you can find it here: http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/sh...ighlight=music

Well, this thread is cover more than music, but if a mod feels that it's overdone, they can close it.

As I said, the other thread was only about music. IMO, this is a far broader topic, so I don't see why I mod would need to close it. I only provided the link because I thought it might be of interest to you.
