Nope, but...Fas has left before from being irritated with the way things are around here.

DW, give fas a shout on Gmail and see whats up if you will. It would be nice to atleast know why he has left, he just sort of disappeared like mag did. No fun that way. Also, alot of people have been just kind of bumping off for awhile then just coming back.
My alternative theory is the Fas managed to track down WR...

Mag, last time I heard about DZ he was coming up my way ot visit some relatives. There have been alot of crashes involving drunk students going the wrong way down the interstate, however all the casualties so far have been local people, mainly children. He wasnt the most active while you were away either, Im not surprised he hasnt been here in a while.

I'll hail Fas, next time I see him.
I am pretty sure he is okay, and I'm guessing that his reasons for not visting SYM are personal in one way or another. I'll at least see if I can make sure he's doing okay and hasn't ended up working in a male brothel or something

"Unable to express his views on certain issues"

"Might have left the country"

I wonder if he moved to a country where he could get in trouble for posting his own views on the internet?

But seriously, I take freedom of speech for granted, so I can't understand why he felt that he couldn't post his own views. But like other people have said, "That sounds like Fas."

Fas seemed extremely upset over those who defended the cartoon images of M'hammed. I think that might have triggered it, but work could have also done its part.

I'd say the cartoon thread was a factor, but not the only one. I'd probably say that it was likely just the straw that broke the camels back. If he had been having issues with SYM prior to that, he could have just decided the reasosns fro posting here were less than the reasons for not posting.

I wouldn't worry about fas any more than I would any other member who just stops posting. People either get busy, or just move on from the board when their interest drops for one reason or another.

Thanks for the welcomes and all of the info folks.

For those new people who seem confused, Fas is CM. They are interchangable.

Maybe I'll hit him on his gMail. It at least sounds like he is okay.

For those that are curious, I was a little worried he had crossed over to the dark side because I heard a news report of a student with his name being arrested in the city he lives in for a terrorist plot.

Granted he does have a relatively common name and it's a big city, but I couldn't get it out of my mind that a conversation here or anywhere may have set him off and put him into a murderous rampage.

Sorry I'm not on very much any more. I am so busy at work these days. Plus the family and whatnot. I'm still up to meeting anyone who is in my neck of the woods(central FL). Thought I would throw that out since it is vacation season.

Well...I am posting because i got e-mails from people i have barely spoken to in ages and was wonderng what was with all this specific attention in a short amount of time.

Anyway some clarifications. Firstly not being able to speak my mind. That was a personal choice i made on my part. To be very honest SYM has a certain specific way of looking at things. My views if expressed openly would be in a violation of certain rules and in many ways would insult a great part of the membership of SYM. Thus I made sure i stayed out of certain threads and did not post on specific issues. Homosexuality being the most blatantly obvious one.

As for expressing myself, I had an issue with that when it came to when i was a mod and many can attest to the fact that i did not share the views of the majority when it came to actions or conduct of mods yadda yadda blah blah.

As for the pictures/cartoons thread. I am not sure how much of it had an affect on me, but in general it did. It was a personal decision on my part to leave after that thread. There are certain personal principles I hold dear. I can not require or enforce others to hold the same principles in the same regard etc. I just thought it would be best if i take my leave after that thread.

However I would like to make it very clear that i do not hold a grudge against or hold ill will towards anybody who posted in that thread. I just decided that this was not a forum i wished to post on anymore.

Plus you can not tell me that it has not been peaceful around here without me

*longs to start a kick Fas in the bum thread*

Hey Fas. Glad to hear your still kicking.

Actually, with me visiting less (than normal) it has been quiet . . . . too quiet [/cliche]

Alright, I'm back to work!

@ CM. Thank you for coming back to explain; that was kind in you.

I am sorry you have had to take this decision, and as you can see, you are missed.

I am very glad to hear you are okay Fas... My apologies, also, for not having gotten back to you on the one PM (personal crap got in the way of my corresponding with people)

As far as your posting at SYM goes... I truly understand the reasons why you left... but I would like to say, and I don't think I'm just speaking for myself, that you are missed.

I think it's a pity and a loss for SYM. And I hope you change your mind.

But take your time.
