A trip up to a local mountain yesterday so that we could play in the snow, got me to thinking..
As I've commented before here, I really hate coastal winters, any chance I get to head above the green line for a while I relish.
You see, I simply *like* the cold, I love the invigorating freshness... the bracing tang that makes you feel utterly alive, the icy blast when you open a door into the elements.
If I have a choice of winter vacations I will almost always choose snow over sand..
So I ask, does anyone else out there share these sentiments or am I just weird. Okay.. before anyone says it I already know I'm weird in other regards,!

You're all weird! I literally hate the cold. As soon as the opportuntity presents itself, I'm out of rainy, cold and grey Holland and will be moving to a warm place. New Zealand, South-Africa or Italy prefered.
I just don't thrive well in the cold and that shows even better when I play sports. In the winter I pray that the matches are cancelled, so that we can play them in the summer.

Agreed Heathen. The warmth is much better than the cold. They love the cold yet want to stay warm...ooh the irony.

I do not adore the cold wind in my face when the temp. is -10celsius and the wind makes it feel like -40. But winter is IMO better that the autumn.
And this guy you talk of, he has a average temperature of 5 celsius in his bedroom

You sure you aren't the decendent of a blue dragon? That is crazy talk. How can you do that? I wouldn't leave the house if it is snowing.

Well - I have no problems with cold weather. Since I was in the army something has happened to my "temperature", so I'm quite comfetable in cold settings, like for instance wearing the same clothes in winter as I do in summer with the exception of using gloves in the winter (I own no real jacket) - although - I'm not sure if that speaks about my winter clothes more then my summer or vice versa.
I likewise have no problem with heat and warm weather and can easily function and even do sports etc in warm summerdays (in Denmark, if the temperature reached 45 degrees celcius, I doubt it would be that healthy to do sports ).
I have no problem with rain either and actually like it when it rains because it means less people out in my way when I'm biking to work (and I always change clothes at work anyways)
What I dislike is wind I hate windy weather - mostly because I ride my bike to work. I also don't like snow much anymore (I did when I was younger) and ice. It is annoying, but again - because I'm biking.
So as it is visible - I'm quite atypical in this regards. The danish temperatures usually suits me quite well, if only I could get rid of the wind that is always against me on my way to work.
But of course, if I were to end up in a part of the world with more extreem temperatures then our mildish danish climate, the situation would likely be different, but I wouldn't know what to choose | | |

I love the cold, granted, there are such things as too cold for your health, which I try to avoid but I love it all the same. I hate ice though, I like to be sure that I won't end up on my back from slipping when going for a walke. It's quite fun wandering around town in a blizzard when everyone is cursing in there cars about the weather as you walk by and wave. I can't sleep when its hot and I often leave fans on and the window open in the winter.
I like the rain too. Especially if I'm in a bad mood, I'll go walk through the rain for a while and I'll feel better. Storms, huge, rolling thunderstorms are my favorite though. I used to sit on my porch when I was little and watch the lightning for hours when we had storms like that.
I used to play in the snow in shorts and a t-shirt too. We had a 17' snow drift one year across my driveway and yard, so I grabbed a sled, climbed it and went sledding over this huge wave-like thing in my yard in my bathing suit and a t-shirt like I was surfing. The ONLY time I'll ever do such a thing too. Not too fond of bodies of water unless decently frozen solid. I can't do that anymore, but a simple hooded sweatshirt usually works to keep me warm in a shirt and jeans, unless its windy, during a good portion of the winter.

DW: You should have been up here in Connecticut a few days after Christmas. We had temperatures below the 40s, snow, etc. Unfortunately, this week is fraught with a warming trend, so... yech.
And yes, I'm part Danish, so I guess you can all say I've got the blood of Northmen in me, possibly even berserkers if you knew some of my relatives!
