Still the bestest console ever, though

| | | To those interested, Nintendo is currently in the midst of re-releasing many classic SNES RPG's to both the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS, as well as a rather ambitious project for the Nintendo Revolution, in which a number of 'collection' series will be released in CD format. |

| | | Aaah.... The Super Nintendo Entertainment System.... That brings some fine memories with it.
Classics like Star Wing, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World and the Donkey Kong Country games (especially 2 & 3) belonged to my favourites, but of course the highlights were the Nintendo RPG's: Lufia, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Terranigma, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger... What I especially loved about these games was that they succeeded with all the simplicity to be still very beautiful and to have an awesome gameplay. True, games like Mario 64, Mario Kart and the Donkey Kong games had quite some more to offer on the Nintendo 64, as the 3D graphic really were an improvement on the feeling of really hopping and racing freely through the surroundings, on the uncomplicated fun so to say. But these SNES RPG's were just the way they should be: simply "2D", concentrated more on the storyline, items and characters, but with still good-looking maps. Zelda on the 64 always bugged me, because the use of 3D made you lose sense of direction, served with annoying controls - but then again, the Zelda games always were of course just mediocre, compared to the other RPG's mentioned before.

| | | The Genesis had some good titles, but Sega had this little habit of releasing too little, too late. This is what eventually killed them in the console wars.Their games were quality enough, but they never found that inbetween area that Nintendo had of releasing enough games, and enough quality games. Sony took a different route, and simply flooded the market, with only a handful being quality games. |

| | | I still got my old SNES lying around somewhere, I think. The best console there ever was IMO. I still play the old games regularly on an emulator, God bless it. Super Metroid, the old Street Fighter games, Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy III and Mario Kart, those were classics. I think the d-pad on my controller stopped working after five years of constant use, which was about the only reason I stopped playing (that, and the N64 was released). God knows I'll never forget the classy four-colored buttons. |

| | | Anyone else here play Super Mario RPG? It was for the SNES and was one of it's best games. Those of you who still have your SNES might want to look this game up. I'm sure it's super cheap, but then again some of the SNES classics can cost a lot.
