Hey guys I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with; I would normally put this in the Tech forum but SYM gets more traffic, and my problem is somewhat urgent, so my apologies.
I'm at work and I need to send out our newsletter to potential clients, but I have to do it so that it is in the body of the email rather than in the form of an attachment. I can't simply copy and paste, because the photo images do not transfer. Everyone here at work is on Macs (it is a graphics/ad kind of firm), and I'm the only person who knows anything at all about PCs, which is not a heck of a lot.
So, in layman's terms (I'm extremely stressed at the moment, so please not too much tech talk ), is there any way I can send a graphics heavy newsletter to people in the body of an email rather than as an attachment?
Thanks in advance.

Can you not use outlook, thunderbird, or another POP3 supporting client and send an html-formatted email? Embedding images is a relatively simple and intuitive process - if you need further details on how to do it, ask
What kind of data, apart from text and images, do you want to have in the newsletter?

I personaly don't know how, but I think Giles or Vic would be happy to do it for you. Why don't you just attach it and send it to them and they can send you a properly formatted version and you can forward it.

What kind of data, apart from text and images, do you want to have in the newsletter? | I do not have Outlook on this computer... I am using a web account.
But, I should be able to get Outlook installed if this is the only way to achieve things.
If it is any help, I can show you what I'm trying to send.
Go to: www.cowieandfox.com , then click on "newsletter"

There's a site about the disadvantages of HTML emails:
In short: 8 reasons why HTML emails will hurt your marketing efforts:
1.Different email clients work differently
2.The problem with printing HTML emails
3.Connecting your users to the Internet when they don’t intend that
4.HTML emails load slower
5.Security problems with HTML emails
6.HTML emails are harder to forward
7.More variables to measure makes it more difficult to gauge your success
8.Do you want to maintain three lists?
(...)In conclusion, if you don’t know for sure whether the majority of your readers will be able to receive HTML emails, send them text messages. If you really love the idea of having a HTML newsletter, there’s always the alternative of putting your newsletter up on your website and providing a link at the beginning of your text-based email which says, “Click here if you wish to view this message in HTML”.(...) Thanks Ik, I appreciate the feedback, and I don't necessarily disagree... However, this is what I am being asked to do, because equally, many people do not like attachments, and since it it *is* a firm that deals heavily with graphics, simply using text does not look that great.
So, if you have any suggestions as to how I can send this thing in email as HTML, I'd appreciate hearing them, other options are not terribly feasible.
We already have our newsletter on the website, as I posted above, and if necessary, I will simply put in a link to it, but I would ideally like to have it in the body. And I don't know how to create an alternate HTML version for people to simply click on.

Yeah, well, I expected that.
Google says eCampaign, eCampaign, eCampaign, eCampaign... But that's not free, and not very easy to install as far as I can see...
But I could be wrong about the latter.
However, searching on html+email+tutorial, I did find something: http://www.website101.com/email_e-mail/HTML_email.html
skip the intro, go to How To Create A Simple HTML Email | | |

Cheers for the link, I am going to copy it over to my boss.
This may be helpful, but it looks like it could be pretty complicated for somebody with my level of tech experience.
Sorry if I seemed short-fused there, I'm under extreme personal stress at home and dealing with technology issues on the job like this is not helping my present frame of mind too much.
Aargh!!!! It never bloody just rains....

Check your gmail. I sent the html version of the newsletter to it - you should be able to simply forward it

This is why there is a PC for every second Mac in my office, and why we spend a minor fortune teaching our slaves to use them. Some of them have actually been completely corrupted and prefer the PC full time.

okay, after much investigation we have decided to go for simplicty. This is the small paragraph I added to my letter, you can justify anything when you put your mind to it I am including a link to our most recent newsletter. Since many people dislike receiving both attachments and HTML formatted emails, we feel this would be the best way for us to introduce ourselves and some of the work that we do. Please check out our newsletter at: http://www.cowieandfox.com/newsletter/02_09_2005/
