Thumbs down Seems like today's a day of rampant deaths, big and small.

Thought I can't say I'm really shocked by a lot that's gone on, here's what I've seen today as far as notable deaths.

1) Former 49ers coach Bill Walsh. (FYI, I'm not a huge football fan.)
2) Swedish director Ingmar Bergman.
3) Former KTRK-TV news anchor Marvin Zindler.

And I may be missing a few others.

What hit home and really inspired me to write this thread, though, is the fact that one my cats died.

Though I am saddened by this lost, I have trouble shedding a tear. I've seen the lion's share of pets pass on already. What concerns me, though, is the shape that my mother and my grandmother are in over all of this. I mean, it's like you almost can't breathe a particle of dust on either of them without them crying.

My brother & I handled the burial, though I tried to get my brother to let me take the brunt of the effort, due to him being ill with Mono. Here he is, sick and tired, and yet, probably being the brawnier of us two to begin with, he's still trudging on with the digging! At least I handled the majority of the stone-marking of the grave. Just wish I wasn't so worn out from work last night.

So, yeah, folks, this day has been strange, to say the least.

You know, that is kind of strange, the way people react towards their animal's deaths. I am fond enough of animals myself to be a vegetarian, a member of polish Animal Care Society and few more things. But when our dog died, after seventeen years of quite happy life, I was the only not crying one. My father and my brother were actually unable to do the digging, and I had to take care of the shovel, find a clean sheet and so on... My brother was in a state of high catolicism at the moment, and he told me to carve a cross on the stone i put over... I tried to explain to him it was not a good idea and he took offence for the rest of the month... Whew, it was such a strange day. I was very fond of her, true, and I miss her much, but, well, she had to die some day anyway. As we all have. But on her passing she seemed to take some of their wits with her all right.

May your cat's soul rest in peace!

I have a confession to make: when our mentally disturbed hamster died, I and my wife cried every day for a week! Before that I laughted at everyone who cried over their pets, but now I shall never do it again!

I'm really upset over the US Military cover up of Pat Tillmans death, his poor family must be so offended. They made it out to be a heroic story whereas it was a falt out murder by another US soldier.
