Remember Remember

The 11th of November, the heroes and the wars that they fought.

Remember that it was today near 90 years ago that the First World War came to an end.

Remember barely 60 years ago we finished the Second War to end all Wars.

Remember now the men and women, friends, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons, who are deployed around the world in dangerous, uncomfortable surroundings, away from all they love to protect something they believe.

Remember the soldier who trains year round in mock war to someday be ready, for in their vigilance they sacrifice more than you might imagine.


Take time to talk to a vet today, and hear their stories, because today is their day.

Take time to Remember.

I always have such terribly mixed feelings about Remembrance Day......

If it were a day to serve as a visceral reminder of the absolute folly of war....the pain, the countless lives needlessly slaughtered... I would feel very differently.
But, all too often it is a glorification of war, and that makes me very uncomfortable.
I'm not dismissing the sacrifices those vets made... and clearly in the case of WW2... with Fascism engulfing Europe.. something had to be done...
I also know this is a memorial thread, so I'll end with this.
