I was wondering, do you think it is ... possible ... that Lucas will remake the original trilogy?
I mean, i kno its EXTREMELY unlikely, but still, the advance in Special effects, etc.; since 1977 is huge.

I strongly doubt it, infact I don't even think it is plausible that it would happen.
The Episodes 4-6 have been remade a couple of times, digitally enhanced and a few scenes put in, but to reshoot them - no.
I've never seen anything mentioned about such a possibility.
If Lucas wants to do more Star Wars (which he currently says he wont) then there have been rumors of an EP:0, but also originally intended there were room for a EP:7,8 and 9.
I however strongly doubt that even a EP:7-9 would be plausible, because the ending of 6 was very final. So EP:0 is perhaps the best bet if more Star Wars is to be produced.

I doubt it, just because the sheer amount of money involved, I don't think it would be financially worth it to do a NEW recreation of those videos with all the cost inherant in doing an up to date version visually.
As for new movies, I haven't delved too much into the Star Wars deal. There are tons of novels however. If it was desired, they have all sorts of plot material sitting on shelves waiting to be picked through and changed into a script.

As far as I know, the only thing that GL anounced and is planing to do in the neer future is a live-action TV series that would tie events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. And even there he would be more of an advisor and overseer and not a director or producer.

Personally, I'd hate to see a remake, because IMHO the original 3 films were much better than the new ones (With the possible exception of The Phantom Menace.)

Rather have an EP:0 to be hornest. Which were supposed to be more about Yoda. Quote: |

Most seem to think that it is the worst Star Wars movies (mainly due to Jar-Jar i think). Anyways - was OTish, sorry | | |

I can't think of a good reason for remaking the old movies. Even if George Lucas could make new movies that looked better, they would never have the authenticity of the originals. Sir Alec Guinness IS Obi-Wan Kenobi to Star Wars fans. If a new actor tried to play the part, the fans would say, "That's just an actor trying to play the real Obi-Wan." The original movies are practically sacred. The fans feel like they're watching real historical events. You just can't remake a movie like that. Quote: |

The main reason is because The Phantom Menace showed why the Jedi were so revered. In the original movies, I was never impressed by the Jedi, and I kept asking, "Where's the beef?"

Whenever I watch Return I use fastforward every time a Ewwok appears on screan.
* just a note: When I grew up there was a cartoon here in Croatia called "Little Flying Bears" and those bears looked exactly like Ewwoks.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he did if Lucas thought it would net him more money. I remember thinking that exact thing a few weeks after Revenge of the Sith came out, and I think many of the more diehard Star Wars fans would get ticked off if the original trilogy was... well, I want to say tampered with, but it already has been, severely. So if Lucas redid the original trilogy, I think the diehard fans would refuse to see the movies more than three times.

Also, on a similar note i heard somewhere on the internet, (cant remember where)that Lucas is planning on starting Episode 7 (of ep 7-9) in 2014, but i find that unlikely as well.
