Well here we go again.
5:30 am here.
Fasting for another month.
So to all muslims happy ramadan.
And even to the non-muslims....heck even BS and tyb.
I am feel in a giving mood.

To maintain my religious piety, i suggest we restrict all internet physical contact to a minimum i.e. No hugging, and the likes.

No problemo

Ramadan is one of the 5 fundemental pillars of islam.
It is where we fast for 1 month as perscribed by Allah.
It is basically to maintain religiously piety and to learn humblness.
It is basically to give thanks for whatever we have....it is very much like the christmas spirit, only we fast 3 weeks long than easter fast.
We can eat before sunrise and then have to eat and drink only after sunset.
So in swiss for a 12 hour period, i dont eat or drink.
In Pakistan it can be a good 14 hour period.
And in the nordic areas...23 hours.
Ironically people have kept 23 hour fasts - i have a couple of years ago.
I pray 5 times a day.
Dont curse and dont perform acts that will be consider a sin.
hmmm....i am kinda blocked on what else you need to know.

Ah specifically for SYM live bullitien.....no sexual acts can be performed during this one month of fasting.
You can of course hug your sister or something.
But cant hop in the sack because you are bored.
And that for a 1 month period.
So ironically most kids are born 9 months after ramadan.
Also ramadan is not fixed.
Rather is it seen and judged by the moon and thus changes every 10 or so days backwards a year.
3 years ago Ramadan was in Jan.
Now it is in Nov.
Hope that helps.

Good luck CM

I never heared about the no-drinking part, maybe a weird question, but could this be different for certain people.

A friend of mine was sick when the ramadam started last year (very serious, he had a genetic problem, and had chemo-therapy for it.
He tried it for a couple of days, but his body just coudn't handle it, and he had to give up.
He was so upset with this, but his life was more importand to him.

But if i understand correctly not everyone has do do the ramadam
(like pregnant woman and baby's)
Am i right?

Ok. I wish you a happy Ramadan, and good luck with the fasting. Ive learned via my friends that follow Islam, that it can be very hard the first couple of days, but eventually, you get used to it. I admire what you do. It takes a lot of will power to avoid food for the daylight hours.

Happy Ramadan my friend. I've never known of Ramadan (rather how it was celebrated) until now, man you religous folks really dig this fasting thing. For a non religous guy I actually think its cool, good luck and enjoy yourself.

See only gwally understands my pain...i wonder why?

Anyway Stiglar is right. If you are sick or have a disability that would make it life threatening for you to fast. You dont fast. If you are travelling you dont have to fast.

Kam it is Ramadan Mubarak....but it means the same thing
Also if you eat infront of someone who fasts....you get 100 lashes...no matter what religion you are. So those frosties just cost you eternal turmoil in grunts basement

And thanks to the rest of you. 30 min and man am i hungry or what. I could eat a cow or more right now.

hey Fas, how come you spell it as Ramadan? I thought in our part of the world we did it as Ramzan. Ramadan is the Arab version.

Anyway I won't be fasting. I did it once when I was younger. Those old days when Friday was the first day of the weekend. I went to the Jumma bazaar in Karachi, and I got sick because of the extreme heat, and because I hadn't woken up early in the morning and eaten any early snack, so I got really sick, we went back home and I ate. Broke the fast, ohwell. Haven't bothered since.

I know its meant so that the poorer people will have something to eat. I'll eat less, not eat at all. I guess I don't such strong will power. Maybe i will try it sometime, but not on a weekday, when I got school and after-school activities.

And Eid mubarak, although that is still weeks away. I miss getting eidi.

...a Blessed Ramadan to you. Here's to a profound reflection on this holy celebration of Islam's counterpart of Christianity's Easter.
