Don't know about that one, but I do know the longest movie, called 'Cure for Insomnia'. It goes for about 72 hours... would be very interesting...

If it truly played for a year and a half, then it should be done in 2004.

I wanted to post that, but I figured it didn't count as it hasn't ended yet.

Or did 2999 pass by without me noticing...

Are we using "song" by the literal defination? Or any piece of music, lyrics or not?

That's what I want to know. There have been festivals of Balinese gamelan music where the music is played continuously by one "orchestra" for nearly 20 hours, individual musicians merely switching out with fresh ones to avoid collapsing.

*nods* I am fairly sure that there have been moments in history when tribal people have done rituals involving drumming and such which spanned quite long periods of time.

Ok, I have been proven wrong. The longest one I knew of was by Iron butterfly, but I guess that was shot. Maybe I should research this stuff before I open my mouth lol

To the best of my knowledge, the longest single composition ever played in its entirety is probably the piano piece called "Vexations" by Erik Satie. It was composed in 1892-1893. After vexing music students for years, it was finally performed in its entirety in 1963 by a group of musicians led by John Cage, who is well-known for his own "experimental" music. I'm not sure how long Cage's performance lasted, but depending on how Satie's notes are interpreted, the piece was intended to last either 14 hours or 28 hours. I have tried to obtain a recording to help me with my insomnia, but I haven't had any luck.

Steven Spielberg's AI. I keep telling myself I should have walked out of the theater, but I sat there, hoping it would be over soon.
