Prostitutes stole a portable computer with secret software from US Army soldiers currently conducting military exercises in Poland. The computer disappeared when three programmers of the US Army invited prostitutes to dinner and to drink. The men fell asleep rather quickly. However, when they woke up in the morning, they discovered that their computer disappeared; in addition to the computer, the girls also stole a digital camera and a pair of speakers.

The US Army HQ estimated the loss to be 120,000 dollars, about 100,000 of the sum is the cost of the secret software. It is the theft of the software that actually worries army officers very much, as the computer contained secret information concerning the US Army.

Military exercises are regularly held on Europe's largest training area, which is located in Poland. The unlucky programmers serve in the US Army Fifth Corps and are stationed in the Federal Republic of Germany. Since Poland became a NATO member, military exercises of the fifth corps have been regularly held in Poland.

No american bashing, but just found this hilarious

"Never trust a hooker",... or the IRS for that matter, but I'm digressing; either way, they're screwed

That's nothing...our Secret Service, MI5, leave their laptops in taxis...not just once either, I think that state secrets have been left in the back seat of bead-seat-worshippers' cars two or three times Various members of Parliament also are into this - it makes their life more fun...

Nothing of that sort happens in Pakistan though....we dont have computers
I have yet to hear of a security breach in Pakistan, but most likely since it would be covered up anyway.

It's dreadful isn't it?...If I may clarify this for foreigners - MI5 lose their laptops absolutely everywhere. I found one in my garden yesterday, and there were a couple at a bus stop on the Cowley road this morning. When we go to recycling centres, they have collection bins marked: Brown Glass, White Glass, Green Glass, Papers, Secret MI5 Laptops.

well at least they aren't using briefcases full of secret documents anymore. the traffic around london in the mornings used to be murder with all those briefcases lying around, dropped by secret agents on the piss. laptops are easier to move in large quantities, or at least drive over.

But if you drive over them, then you can't sell them for hundreds of thousands of pounds on the Black Market to give state secrets to Saddam! And I still wanna find out what the Queen has for dinner

ROFL @ Robnark...
Yeah, what you need to do nowadays is to discover an aged soviet spy who's been working undercover for 75 years without the government knowing...

I can just imagine that ad re-done...with the Queen mum jogging across the screen and leaping into the air, while her 'energy levels' slide up in a cross section diagram

...and doesn't know the soviet union's collapsed, and isn't using a laptop as a paperweight?

The actual number of laptops unaccounted for by MI5 is something ridiculous like 11 or 12 over the past couple of years.
