You can go to any time period you wish, and any place on earth you wish. The catch is, once you arrive, you can never leave, again. You will be given full lessons in the primary language and cultural attitudes of your destination. You will *not* be allowed to introduce any inventions unheard of in that time period (though if an invention exists elsewhere in the world, and you could recreate it, you're allowed to go for it).

Your choice?

Without question, 1st century Palestine during the time of Jesus' Galillean ministry.
What I wouldn't give to actually see him in the flesh, hear his voice as he preaches and teaches the gospel, and witness with my own eyes the miracles he performed!

@Eminem, it sounds like you'd enjoy posting in the Religion and Politics thread.

@Nick, you do know that the Vikings were farmers most of the time, lived in large, extended family buildings, and only sailed on raids once a year or so? And that their idea of healing open wounds involved the application of dirt to the infected site?

Hey fable, you neglected to inform the rest of us what time period you wanted to visit. Well?

Oh yeah, I read the Religion and Politics thread but resisted posting any of my views because my belief in the gospel as the word of God, and of Christianity as the one and only way to the Father (John 14:6) is simply non-negotiable. I will state, however, that my faith is grounded in fact, not feeling.

Waverly: *whaaack*
Doc: What was that?
Waverly: Someone thumped me with the bible!
Doc: That's awful. <brushes his shoulder off> Yuck, you have one true god all over you.
Waverly: Not again

Weeeeel, there's what I'd like to do, and reality. Reality dictates that I am anchored in a variety of daily maintanence drugs because of my lifelong asthma, and going to any other time period would result in a very uncomfortable demise. (Even the most basic of asthma medications didn't exist until after WWII.) But if I had my druthers...I might choose ancient Crete, the Minoans, where men and women were treated equally, and where a highly refined civilization flourished until around 1300 BC. Of course, we don't know many details about 'em, but what we have looks pretty damn good.

The two time periods I'd realy wanted to have lived in:

---Roman empire during Julius Caesar's reign; as a merchant traveling around in his empire

---India-Pakistan-Bangladesh-Nepal area around 1000 A.C.; as a noble. There were those beautiful temples, "ahem"
