I'm not the kind of guy that waffles on about dead celebrities, but this one gets to me. Celebrity nowadays is all about flash and no substance. If Lindsay snorts half of Peru from Britney's cleavage on Sunset, and you happen to be be present on the pic in TMZ, you're famous. Meanwhile, these fantastic icons keep on croaking, and there is NO ONE to replace them!!!! Not a single one. Johnny? Maybe. Edward? Mnjaaa, another maybe. Where's the personalities? Where's the intensity?

Gawds bless you Paul. You made my childhood and growing up so fantastic. Now I know that Butch Cassidy survived, but hell, the Sundance Kid was always the coolest dude.

Rest in peace

When I turned on my computer today, this news made me sad. I agree, there is no real replacement for those guys that were part of our youth. I had a huge crush on him at the time.

Rest in peace, Paul.

Strange... Watched Scarface a couple of days ago and it mentioned Paul Newman. I was suddenly daydreaming and asked myself 'How is good Old Paul'. It came as quiet a shock when I hearded that he only just died. He'll be missed, he was a fantastic actor that played rolls like no one else could.

I was never a fan, myself. Yeah, good looking guy, and I liked the films well enough, and learning today that he was a pretty decent chap who did a lot for deprived people had made me re-assess my estimation of him. It is always sad when a good guy dies. His family has my deep sympathy.

(But it was Danny Kaye who floated my boat). Yeah, no kidding.

Paul Newman was one of those rare celebrities who had talent to go along with his looks and image. He scored big time with me later in his life by being an active supporter of charities through his Newman's Own brand of condiments and foods. No doubt that will carry on through the efforts of his friends and family members.

I'll miss him. He was a decent fellow despite fame.

We should all be so lucky as to live to 83, with six kids and a loving wife.

"Why go out for hamburger when you have steak at home?" indeed - he was a rare breed of celebrity indeed.
