| | | Oh Canada? My office is hosting some new trainers down from our Toronto office and it has got me thinking a little more about Canada.
I have a few questions for the Canadians around here that have been buggin me. (The questions were buggin me, not the Canadians. I'v got no problem with them.)
1. Can you make a payment by phone in Canada? What payment methods are acceptable? Is a service charge customary.
2. What do you call Canadian Bacon?
3. How Much are you paying for gas these days? We've got to be ripping you off since we get so much oil from Canada.
4. Do people in Canada complain that other countries are "stealing" your jobs? I'm stealing one next month if anyone wants to flame me for it.
I may think of more, but that's what's on my mind and I'm really bored.
Edit: 5. Are nude beaches legal in Canada? We have one that I know of in Florida, but it's underground.

| | Yes, (some) Canadians complain about jobs heading south to the USA.
I especially would like to second the curiosity about nude beaches- can we get a definative answer about this please? |

| | | I wonder how much cheaper it is to employ Americans.. I'm sure you don't have to spend as much on them for benefits etc.
6. What's the minimum wage? I'm sure there has to be one.

It is usually lower wage jobs, if I remember correctly.
There must be a canadian out there who has more to add... (have I mentioned I'm curious about the nude beach thing? It seems so... cultured and yet dirty at the same time...) |

2. What do you call Canadian Bacon? I've always called it "bacon."
3. How Much are you paying for gas these days? We've got to be ripping you off since we get so much oil from Canada. Yesterday it was $1. 05 per litre
4. Do people in Canada complain that other countries are "stealing" your jobs? I'm stealing one next month if anyone wants to flame me for it. Yes, quite frequently; it is a due to both offshoring and the fact that many newly arrived immigrants are willing to work for lower wages because their previous conditions in most cases were so desperate.
I have not checked recently, but I believe the current minimum wage (it varies from province to province), is about $8.50/hour.
I don't know the specifics on employing Americans up here though. Are you moving North Jopp?
Edit: 5. Are nude beaches legal in Canada? We have one that I know of in Florida, but it's underground. Yes, in specially zoned areas. They have to be out of sight of residential and/or business areas.

What about regular bacon then? Or do they only have the Canadian variety. Bacon elitists! 3. How Much are you paying for gas these days? We've got to be ripping you off since we get so much oil from Canada. Yesterday it was $1. 05 per litre
Ouch! I'm hoping that's Canadian Dollars. I've been paying $2.29 US per GALLON, and that's pretty high for us. 4. Do people in Canada complain that other countries are "stealing" your jobs? I wish! Anything to get out of the hellhole that is Florida!
I'm getting a job that was from our Toronto office though. They're going to lay off about 400 Canadians. It will help us out a lot though.
I don't think my wife would go for Canada. Maybe though. Probably be better for our kids. I wonder what it takes to get citizenship.
The Minimum wage is probably about the same here after you adjust for cost of living and currencey conversion. It's $6.25 in Florida. Edit: 5. Are nude beaches legal in Canada? Good to know. THe one here is illegal, but it's on federal land and the FBI doesn't get out there much to enforce things.

7. WHat kind of weapons are restricted? You can get almost anything in Florida and carry a lot of it. I currently only carry a 3 inch switchblade though.

3. In Ontario, we're at about $0.914 a litre
4. Jobs? We haven't had jobs since Mulroony screwed us over...
6. Minimum wage in Ontario is $7.00/hour. As a waiter, I make $6.20+tips/hour... |

I"m still wondering if they sell the other variety of bacon in Canada and what you call that.

| | For what consolation it is worth, petrol here is 86p per litre, so what is that? $1.50 US (?) which is about $6US to a US gallon (imperial gallons are larger, so look even more expensive! ) Some stations in this country are reported to be selling fuel at £1 per litre!! (approx $7.20 per US gallon) Please correct me if my maths are wrong, but I can't be far out...

I"m still wondering if they sell the other variety of bacon in Canada and what you call that. | Well, keep in mind that the CAN dollar is currently at about 81 cents American, so waiters up here make slightly more. Sadly, Canadians are cheap tippers. I work in Niagara Falls, and American customer's always tip better than Canadians, and Canadians always tip better than teachers |

| | | What I see is 'bacon' and 'bacon'. In all reality there is little Canadian about 'Canadian' bacon. It's simply back bacon. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
