..you haven't already?

An anonymous and dubious purported representative of the trial asserts that all documented retro car barfing incidents can be included in the final study assessment....

In that case where do I go to collect my check for participating in the study?

Actually - I rarely eat at McDs anymore. But these dudes have figured out a way to hook carb and grease junkies in a way that would make tobacco companies envious.

It takes a focused effort on my part to avoid eating McDs food - and I am a relatively strong minded individual. God help the general public that has a level of self discipline somewhere akin to the average 5 year old.

I rarely, and do mean rarely, eat at any fast food places, simply for the fact stated in the 'report'. I feel sort've disgusted with myself that I did eat it today, though. Sometimes, little choice, or just too hungry...

Really? Because whenever I consider it, or someone suggests it, I vaguely entertain the idea for about two seconds, before realising that their food tastes crap and I could get something far tastier for the price. There's always a choice. Especially round my way, there are plenty of more appetising fast food outlets than Maccy D's. Thank goodness!

Ditto! If I succumb to the urge for a grease fix I go to a local place which actually has really good burgers and the like... They are slightly more expensive than Mc D's but definitely worth the extra.

You know - I agree with both of you that McDs stuff is gross - I much prefer Wendy's or Subway - Wendy's for a filling and usually crips salad - and Subway for my BMT fix.

However - there is something about McDs food. For some reason I crave a Big Mac and fries - usually when I am driving around on an errand early in the afternoon. It is almost scary - I find my steering wheel pulling in the direction of one of the like 17 McDs in my town. If I don't make a concerted effort to fight this I find myself wolfing down a supersized "value meal" with a ferocity that would make a wild dog turn its head in disgust.

Inevitably, 5 minutes after I finish - I feel ill. Then I feel guilty. Then I stop by a Mobil mart and buy some Dentyne Ice - and chew the whole box at once.

What the heck do they put in this stuff?

Man, I could sure go for some McDonald's food right now... The grease is what makes it taste good! That's some good eatin' there!

I think I am lucky in that I hate relish, gherkins, mayonnaise etc. and I am too shy to ask for burgers without them, so I am therefore deterred from going in. ( I buy the odd coke or fries).

I still dont understand what it is about McD's that makes people buy. It really is food that has been chewed for you.
This thread is so uncannily like something I just read in 'Good Omens' last night, that I find it disturbing how Terry Pratchett captured the truth and pointed it out as something comical:

"The Newtrition corporation had started small, eleven years ago. A small team of food scientists, a huge team of marketing personnel, and a neat logo.
Two years of Newtrition investment and research had produced CHOW(tm). CHOW(tm) contained spun, plaited and woven protein molecules, capped and coded, carefully designed to be ignored by even the most ravenous digestive tract enzymes; no-cal sweeteners; mineral and flavourings. The end result was a foodstuff almost indistinguishable from any other except for two things. Firstly, the price, which was slightly higher, and secondly the nutritional content, wich was roughly equivalent to that of a Sony Walkman. It didn't matter how much you ate, you lost weight (And hair. And skin tone. And, if you ate enough of it long enough, vital signs).
... skip about half a page ...
MEALS(tm) was Sable's latest brainwave.
MEALS(tm) was CHOW(tm) with added sugar and fat. The theory was that if you ate enough MEALS(tm) you would a) get very fat, and b) die of malnutrition.
The paradox delighted Sable."

I personally think that 'Sable' is one of the higher ups in McD's myself
And Sable is Famine, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, which makes it all the more likely.

Listen - every culture has some kind of food that they find delicious that the rest of us would have trouble choking down on a bet. For some reason - a good percentage of Americans find McDs food yummy.

I am sure I could point out plenty of food that is popular in other countries that I would find repulsive. To each his own.

What I find scary is that there seems to be some kind of habit forming aspect of McDs food. This disturbs me - and I think a large, expensive, government sponsored investigation should be launched immediately. Or sooner...

Come on! There has been poll after poll done, and practically nobody eats McDonalds (or Burger King, etc) because they like it. Americans eat it because its fast and cheap. You can drive up to a window, order it, get it in a minute, and eat it as you drive away. Don't undersell the taste buds of a natino that also enjoys more different cuisines than any other.
