MS Office 2007 Beta - Free Download

I downloaded and installed this last night, and was quite impressed. If anyone is looking for another "free" word processor you can download it here. Apparently some of the functions expire in February, but it still seems pretty good.

And if anyone else has any experience with MS Office 2007, I'd appreciate your mentioning it, since I'm considering deinstalling Open Office in order to free up hard drive space.

What are some of its features that you couldn't find in the last few versions of Office, DW?

I second that question - I have MOffice 2003 and since it's more than fine I wasn't thinking about ugrading but it sounds interesting.

I have only played with it a bit, so I can't provide detailed replies in terms of how it compares to the old copy I was using (I think it was 2003), and for quite a while I have been using Open Office, so my memory is foggy.

But if you check out this page, and this Wikipedia entry, you'll find quite a lot of information.

This Review, though perhaps overtly glowing, contains a decent amount of info too.

And a better, more in-depth review can be found here

I downloaded it because Open Office was causing me a lot of formatting grief, so I decided to give this a whirl. Just bear in mind that it will likely automatically update whatever previous version you have on your computer, so make sure you have your original disc.

In case anyone's interested Microsoft has finally released an open Vista beta. I personally won't be installing it since my computer won't run it and I don't think installing an operating system that is still in beta is a particularly good idea.

Looks like they've redesigned the interface. A very needed change, as all Microsoft interaces have developed very convoluted menu systems.

Yes indeed, I'm finding it far more functional and efficient. I like the new skin too, it's restful on the eyes. I have to concede, this seems to be a really decent product. In fact, I'm preferring it to Open Office. It's much faster (since Open Office uses Java, which is a pig on resources), and I'm not having the formatting trouble that I was.

Thanks for the links, I think I may actually think about investing into it ... hmm ... I've been using Office for ages so I don't really mind the interface. I have keyboard shortcuts for everything but it can be a nasty little program if you mess with it too much (I lost a function in Excell and believe it or not Voice Command was the only thing it could activate it, otherwise it was not there in the menues) so despite the familiarity a little easing off would be good

It didn't look appealing before and it doesn't now. I'll be sticking with XP.

I might try this MS Office though, works is starting to tick me off.
