I'm back from great trip to Dublin. It was great fun.

-Guinness in one pub taste different from the next.
-Kilkenny is quite good (my friend swears by it before I travelled), but I still prefer the Black Stuff.
-The great sight in the morning of the city is the delivery trucks, with no cover or roof, unlike most trucks/vans. Just bare trucks with a couple of frames to keep things on there, carrying unmarked plain metal barrels. Loads of them. The back of the truck says "Guinness". For some reason, I think it is a marvelously attractive sight.
-You must be patient when you order Guinness. It must be settled before you can drink. I felt it took longer to settle than in England.

Someone went to a beautiful, lush, green, country just as spring is beginning to bloom... and pickled herself in drink, missing all of it.

Well, when in Rome.....

Besides, just imagine, it probably looked ever more lush through the hazy lens of an empty pint glass (or two.. or three... or four...)

So, did you order us a few pints in to settle until we got out there?

I had heard that you should order your next pint once you are halfway through your present

@Waverly, LOL! well Ireland is going to suffer again in May from a visit from those who are more interested in the brew than the damp landscape

I was very lucky in weather, and had my lunch in St.Stephen's Green. I didn't write in the report, because I forgot what I supposed to be writing.

Because I was travelling alone, I went to the 1916Rising Tour and Musical Pub Crawling, and I recommend both of them. 1916Rising Tour was great, particularly the guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable (and funny!). It is not for someone who believes everything British/English has done is always right and justified. In that case, don't bother.

Musical Pub Crawl was also great fun. Two musicians took us (it was about 25-30 people. I think that's better for singing and tapping) to pubs and gave information about instruments and Irish music, and we had lots of singing (and drinking). I was lucky that both of them were about my age and quite good looking, and had great time.

I did order you pints, but I drunk them all!

It is true they order well before the glass is empty. Most pubs are really busy anyway, and at the peak time, bar staffs permanently have some pint glasses filled to keep up! It never happen "oh, I poured into too many glasses". It will be gone before they settle.

We will be staying not far from St Stephens

Thanks for the recommendations LMAO! I can imagine that it is not for the most patriotic Brit I bet it is fascinating though...

The musical pub crawl sounds a blast!! I might be tempted to take my Bodhran along!

I would love to be the victim of a lock in Ceilidh, but I doubt that would happen in Temple Bar

Some mate! but I can't say I wouldn't have done the same

LOL! I remember when I worked the bars up north, we had a line of Guinness half pulled This was in the days before these fast, flatter pumps

I went Kilmainham Gaol next day, so it made more meaningful after the Tour.

After the Pub Crawl, I went back to the first pub for more singing. Back to my room about 2.15am, and I was staying just 3 minutes walk from Temple Bar.

Honestly, I really want to go back as soon as possible! It just costs too much... Not that the flight fares, but the accommodation, particularly. I'll try.

Noisy? Are you talking about inside of pubs, or streets in general?

We have found accommodation for £30 per night, with ensuite

The streets, I would hope that the pubs were noisy

The streets can get noisy early in the morning, if your accommodation is facing main road or delivery doors to pubs. Buses and trucks, as in London.

Where are you staying, then?
