Mens and Womans

Yesterday I was talking if my friend about heroes, Myths. Man or Womans that fascinate you, nothing more than men and womans. But these "heroes" representation for someone is much more strong and big than their own reality. My heroes fascinate me, in na mix of Plato-love and jealous( <- This word maybe is not correct, I mean someone is so big/ great/ perfect/ good that I wish to be like him/her).
Long after-life for my heroes. Since the majority of them are dead.

I wish to know, of you:

Your heroes. Who are your heroes?
It is possible to don't have at least one hero?
The representation of the Father and Mother still heroes for you?
You consider a major fascination an patological aspect?

My friend is making an analyse about it, of course, I will not send yours information\data for his tests, the main purpose of these question is because he make me curious about these question.

(Is there any topic about it before?)

I had to write an essay on what a hero is for my English comp class(the one I'm sitting in right now). Through the process of discovering what a hero is to me, I came to the final conclusion that I am my hero, or rather, the dream of what I will be is my hero. There is no one I want to be just like. I just want to be me and all the me I can be.

Probably my English (ignorance in english) become a problem.
I mean:
Fascination- The plato-love feeling we have about our heroes.

Patological- pathos- sickness.

I never considered anybody to be my hereo. Sure I like what many people do and somewhat admire some of them, and I do love my parents, but i don't call anybody my hereo.
There are people who could be called hereos though.

Sorry, that doesn't make much more sense. I don't recognize the term "plato-love feeling." Probably, I'm just not well-educated enough on this particular matter.

Platonic love = non-erotic love, like love between friends, parent and child, etc. Like the Greek agape (as opposed to eros, sexual love).

I think what Ivan means is something like: Do you consider is pathological (sick, unhealthy) to admire or love an idol/hero very much?

To answer Ivan's questions:

1. I have no heroes, hero is too strong a word. People I admire:

Everybody who has lived through unthinkable horrors (like Nazi concentration camps, Soviet work camps or former Jugoslavian prisons) and doesn't let bitterness, hate and revenge take over their lives but instead develop into humanists and pacificts with love and respect for all human life.

Also, some great thinkers, scientists and politicians:
Rita Levi-Montalcini
Konrad Lorenz
Einstein
Bertrand Russell
Ghandi
Oscar Arias Sanchez
and many, many more

2. Yes, I think it's possible not to have any heros, but I think it's impossible not to have a role-model, ie someone/several people you model your behaviour after as a child. Model learning is the most important form of learning for human (and ape) children.

3. No, my parents don't serve as role-models for me, I've developed into a person who is very, very different from them.

4. I think it's very unhealthy when admiration and love for another person gets so intense so you are absorbed by being like that person. When you look at some idol/authority figure as something almost perfect and you really want to be like them, you tend to neglect your own individuality and personal development.
