My roommate said to me last night while we were waiting for people to show up that he thought I should be a DJ for a radio station. This intrigued me, as when in a good mood, I tend to become a focus for parties and what not if I end up rambling. Also, some girls have mentioned they find my voice to be very attractive at times. My being able to work at any hours, limitations for the types of work I can do, and my love for music made me honestly consider this.
So, I was wondering, anyone with experience as a DJ around? Anyone with thoughts on my chances as being one?

Ha, that's been my thought too. Regardless, I may decide to do something online similar to it, just from boredom. It shouldn't be too expensive to find a way to make a site that would function the same way.

Heh, Stern eh? I think I'd have similarities, but definately be a bit different too. I'd do it for music. Although, there are a number of things I could discuss instead too. That's an interesting thought as well. DJ, or be a radio talkshow presence.

@Mag, I think you'd be good at the talkativeness and spontaneity parts.
I'm not really sure how much is scripted and the like though.
Still, you'd probably be good at it.

Thanks! I thought so too. Everyone keeps saying I'm far too random to handle in anything but small doses. That might work good.

That's why you play music in the middle right?
Being slightly warped is probably a requirement to be on radio.

Yep, exactly. Wait, wasn't Fable on the radio at one point in the 80's?
I gotta go folks, have fun!

If you wanna do it, go for it. Don't let us decide for you.
(I voted yes).

Be a radio DJ? They're few, except on very small stations or in small metro areas. In larger centers, a small number of DJs compete very heavily for the positions. Many stations no longer even use live hosts, but have switched to rebroadcasting signals from a master station, or simply running stacks of centrally programmed material with canned announcements.
But what have you got to lose? Check out the scene. Make a promo of your voice--*not* humorous material--on good equipment, and be sure you know at least the basics of whatever music scene you want to announce. Good luck!

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it said "Me, a D?"
I was suddenly left wondering if Mag had decided to undergo silicone surgery during the holidays....
Erm.. sorry, but I had to share
Oh, on topic, sure, go for it, it can't hurt to at least try
