| It's a strange game really, it can be truly brilliant but other times damn annoying. The cars are quite often absolutely horrible to drive due to IS (Illusion Softworks) trying to stick close to reality. So you trundle around in cars that barely do fifty.
Amusingly enough though this suffers from a Midtown Madness and Driver (1) related problem, the police know, without a doubt, exactly how fast one is going, so while I'm only about two miles an hour of the speed limit, they do not need any other reason to smash ones car into crap. Of course this does lead to some exciting chases but the cops almost always have the upper hand with cars that would rival the Jaguar XJ220.
Although, most important missions that you have to do at speed are at night, at which point the cops are not around so it doesn't matter so much.
One other thing about driving is how confusing it is until one discovers the map, at which point everything gets vaguely easier.
To the good points, basically, the graphics are amazing if you have the appropriate machine, it really does look beautiful, although the chrome of the cars is somewhat excessive.
So enough about cars, there is also the missions standard, some are good fun and some suffer from the same awkwardness which dogs the rest of the game, I mean, the realism extends so far and then just converts into the space of annoying.
I would say it is one of the more exceptional games of the last 5 years and it isn't really fun, more like something akin to rewarding. I know my comments seem more like just complaints, while that is true I reckon you might enjoy it, I'd suggest you rent it to see if it suits you and at the point buy it. I enjoyed it but I know a lot of people don't.
I'll add more on the good points later.
